the worst thing to happen to the internet (okay, maybe not), and complex is the biggest offender. they can't even do ten per page or something, it's literally 100 clicks, fuck that, and fuck their page/ad views.

I think the list is pretty thorough, and the rankings are pretty good.

Hip-Hop Heads that can't admit that A Milli is a dope beat are equivalent to the GOP in this last Presidential Election. There has to be progression and a beat like Unbelievable is great, and classic, but sounds kind of dated now. A Milli, while less than 5 years Old, still sounds fresh, and stands out head and shoulders above most production in hip-hop currently.

you're arguing trends here, not timelessness, and using a 15 yr old beat and a two year old beat as the basis for that argument
Milli is just Phife Dawg pitched down and repeated over and over again, that doesn't begin to compare to Primo's mutilation of Impeach in the slightest

you can add ingredients to a gumbo all day, but that doesn't mean its any better in the end for it...

i don't prefer one beat over the other, but one does sound dated, and one still sounds at or ahead of its time, that is all..

and people who brush off the fact that "golden age" rap music is "better" based on the era of its release are just failing to progress...

By the way, a much simpler primo beat, The Best Part by J-live shits all over both beats, so there is always that

Milli is just a shitty beat that was popular because it's easy to remember

>i don't prefer one beat over the other, but one does sound
>dated, and one still sounds at or ahead of its time, that is
>all..
>

people will still be listening to Mass Appeal in another 2o years, A Milli will be forgotten in 5
using 'dated' as a negative qualifier isn't smart either, a lot of things are of their time but that doesn't make it inferior

>and people who brush off the fact that "golden age" rap music
>is "better" based on the era of its release are just failing
>to progress...
>

I agree, too bad that's not what I did or else you'd have something there

>By the way, a much simpler primo beat, The Best Part by J-live
>shits all over both beats, so there is always that

not a better beat than MA, but miles better than A Milli by any standard

i like how you went through my post, seemingly to refute every point i made, but made no mention or paid no attention to the fact that I didn't mention the beat used for the crux of your argument.

Again, I don't hesitate to call Mass Appeal or Unbeleiveable Classic beats, and i actually prefer them to A Milli, but I can see how they would be rated Lower, and it doesn't bother me. My original post was to state the rediculousness that is perpetuated by the fact that a beat like A Milli can't be better than a primo beat, because its not a primo beat. And because he did this, this, and that to the beat it is better. Or because it came out then and not now, it is better.

I meant Un and not MA, but either way the argument stands

>Classic beats, and i actually prefer them to A Milli, but I

that's not what we're talking about here
there is no way that Milli is a better beat than Unbelievable
more current? yep, but by any measure you can rate a good beat by, it doesn't even rate

>My original post was to state the rediculousness that is

>better than a primo beat, because its not a primo beat. And
>because he did this, this, and that to the beat it is better.
>Or because it came out then and not now, it is better.

and again, I didn't say either of those things
I said A Milli doesn't belong on this list, and you'd have to dig VERY deep to find a Primo beat that is worse-and it doesn't matter who did it, just going through his catalogue and listening to the music is enough for that

Deep Space 9mm? Iron Galaxy? 8 Steps To Perfection?

i'm not familiar with J Rawls discog, but Hi-Tek, Automator, El-P easily have all-time classic beats that can fit into a "greatest beats of all time" list

the beat had to have some type of impact.

all of those were underground joints.

the only way this list makes sense is if it's more about impact than anything else.

but even with that as the case, there are some questionable aspects of the list.

think that somehow that beat on its own is some iconic part of the beat-making cannon.

I mean I'm not going to sit down to come up with 100 beats I prefer to it but I don't really find it to be some egregious omission either.

C'mon. This was a chance to go beyond the usual dickriding and namedropping in hip hop editorials and just rank something based on skill, merit, and dopeness. It's all subjective, but c'mon. This was supposed to celebrate producers, DJs, and engineers.

Where the fuck is the love for Easy Mo Bee, No ID, Marely Marl, Organized Noize, Q-Tip, PETE ROCK!, hell even Dilla is shitted on in this list. (SOme will say theres TOO much Dilla.....but whatever)

Who works at these editorials man. These people don't know shit.

We all know a list like that is objective (to a point) but at the end of the day it makes people look at it. Complex gets that.

Also: A Milli is way more influential to the scene right now than cats on here may wanna admit. I'm not mad at that ranking one bit

Who did this list? Why? I don't get it. Why is it so wrong?

Life's been a wild ride, but I'm still here and I enjoy it when I can. I love to have fun, and I hope you enjoy me.

Not saying this list is good at all, BUT...as much as we argue about albums and artists, this is even more subjective than that list could ever be.

i see some of these as great songs as opposed to great beats.
but at least there's not too much wackness or over-compensation of southern content just for the sake of balance. however, the lack of organized noize is unforgivable. ATLiens is not even their best beat.

wow, you are the authority i guess.

hey real quick, Let me tell you (insert my OWN OPINION HERE) so you can tell me i'm wrong because you were appointed the end all be all of all. And when I'm done this guy that said the message wasn't that great can go.

And on down the line...

Thank you for being so gracious with your time, and allowing others to post in this topic, just so you can shoot them down like you are the authority...

oh and BTW the Beat For Laffy Taffy shits all over 100-1 on this list, handily. the synth line and the overall mood created shit all over 95% of all of the shitty synth stuff out today. And the Island keys on Superman, oooohhh don't get me started.
