Dude is a unique physical talent. Coverage of the kid, though possibly over saturated, has been pretty fair and well rounded.

That doesn't mean I can, while dribbling and running at full speed, identify the right person to pass to while on a 3-on-2 fast break.
and that's a relatively basic basketball play.
Yes it's different than regular IQ (which isn't so much a thing anyway, but at least the term in basketball is recognized for representing the ability to process and use information in a specific way).

They're literally the entire reason he's such a hot topic. The coverage itself has been multifaceted though, and that's fairly common with NBA prospects.

First of all, there is tons of coverage about Zion's character on and off the court, but even if there weren't, is it WRONG to focus on his physical attributes? A lot of guys at D3 schools and 24 Hour Fitness gyms across the country are smart on and off the court. Not many of them are 280-pound guys who can leap over a single-story building and hammer down a dunk with the power of a thousand suns. The guy has a lot going for him in terms of smarts, character, etc, but let's face it, what makes him singular is what he can do athletically.

I heard less talk about black players being natural and instinctive talents, the coded language I use to hear so much growing up and you hear more talk of players "smarts" on the court. Admittedly, I think the shift is due to more black commentators but it is certainly welcomed.

Its good to hear Chauncey, Jalen, Grant Hill and even Reggie talk about the game but I feel like the NBA game is different, definitely more socially modern compared to other leagues.
The college game on the other hand ... when it comes to the Gonzaga's of the world its a different story. ESPN could use some more Brothers commentating the college game to even that out

and in terms of american white guys, sheeeeeit, there are probably more european baseball players than american white guys of note in the nba.
even the euros are a little lean. dirk retiring. zingis hurt. i guess luca doncic was throw into the mix. but even with the game diversifying internationally, the sport is blacker than ever. even the best international players right now are mostly black--giannis, jojo, siakam, etc.

They're leaning hard on his athleticism in draft coverage because he's a massive freak, one of the most singular athletes in over a decade in the sport. But a huge reason why he's pegged as a future superstar is because he plays exceptionally hard and exceptionally smart. Literally every superlative is used for this kid.
