Tungsten, tough as hell, never scratches. Inexpensive too.

personal taste.

I don't like ornate things, so this is exactly what I wanted and I'm happy with it.

Plus if I lost it for whatever reason, its easy to replace.

doesnt matter whats on the finger, all that matters is that theres something there.
so, because of this I wear a few things.

I hate rings and they way they feel and I have a fear of ring avulsion so I always use a silicone ring. Sometimes I break out a hipster inspired multi material ring like this: https://jewelrybyjohan.com/collections/meteorite-rings/turquoise

It’s somewhere in the back yard or a bird prolly flew off with it.

or my thieving ass younger cousin helped me look for it, found it and kept it.

I was throwing stale bread off the back porch and the ring flew off my hand. I was faded and knew I saw exactly where it landed but I couldn’t find it.

That was like 6 years ago.

I’m sure the story sounded like bullshit to my wife tho.

I have a flat wide band with beveled edges. It's pretty modern I guess.

I was planning to get platinum, but the jewelry store sold us on white gold. It started off almost silver and looked great, but it's yellowed over time and gotten pretty scratched and beat up. I wish I had stuck to platinum. I'd say avoid gold if you're worried about scratches or dents.

I don't mind though, I'm not a huge jewelry dude so this is like the second thing I've ever owned with diamonds in it.

But I made sure hers was all shiny and she wanted to make sure I got some shine too. Can't be mad at that.

When i got married my wife spent over a $1000 on a white gold ring for me with a channel of small diamonds..a year or so later i lost it. Then i see a basic tungsten silver ring on Amazon for $15..still looks great, takes a beating and if I lost it i would just reorder on Amazon.

I got a $20 silicone ring because my real ring is too big. I’ll get it resizes at some point, but the silicone joint is so comfy I’m not in a hurry at all.

The real one is for when I want to show off for my wife, but I almost exclusively wear the silicone because it's light, comfy, and versatile.

If there's an accident and your finger starts swelling, they can't cut the ring off like they can do with gold/silver/etc. It requires specialized instruments, apparently. I got freaked out about losing a finger. Just something to consider with super strong metals.

... silver-ish/grey in color. Under pressure the ring will shatter instead of crimping down on your finger. Don’t know what situation that could happen in - but I’m ready for it I guess.

Had a matte/worn look on the day and has only gotten more worn looking since (8 years). Also not super expensive (I think it was $250) in case it gets lost, which has happened numerous times. Longest I've lost/misplaced it was 7 weeks.

if you get tungsten or carbide or anything like that, god forbid anything ever happens to your hand, or an accident, or it gets caught up...you can not cut that shit, they'll be taking your finger homie. Something to remember if you go outside the gold/silver lane.

i worked with a local jewelry maker. not even a mom & pop jewelry shop - like a metalsmith dude that makes rings and jewelry in his own studio. You can prob find someone like him in any mid-size city. (for reference: https://jasonsteinmetals.com/home.html ) I recommend it. You can get everything customized to exactly what you want, no one else will have your ring, its made from scratch, and you're prob gonna wind up paying less than a ring in a jewelry store.

and how some materials can't be cut so the finger has to come off.

Didn't think I'd have to worry about that but thanks for the heads up.
