"birth control decisions..."

how do those discussions go with you and your SO about not making babies? interested in those folks that already have kids and don't want anymore.

I decided it was best for me to get a vasectomy. two kids is plenty for me. plus my wife and I pushing on 50.

she does still wants more kids, but she also realizes that's not a smart idea.

other reasons for me doing it:

way easy process - literally a half hour of time

more cost effective - cheaper than her getting tubes tied

taking responsibility - didn't want her having to think about going under the knife for an invasive ass procedure, forever taking pills, or us playing the pull out game.

Y'all buy those labels, I was born supreme

My doc is part of an Advocate Group associated with a hospital (her office is in the hospital). So the surgeon she referred was in the group and in my network. Also in an office on the floor below hers.

Surgery was held in the hospital where they both hold offices. Follow ups were basically like going to my regular doc.

Super convenient for me.

I have an iud and we use condoms but dude is starting to get comfortable suggesting putting it in raw for a few min since we both got tested and I’m like naw fam. I’m 38 and he is 47. I have two kids. He has none. Says he doesn’t want any but I’m like seriously you must do. He was like don’t you have one of those thingys?

👀

Bruh. Unless u coming with some upfront money I ain’t taking a chance on having more kids. It’s hard enough with the two. I’ve known him for over 9 months and he still ain’t even met my kids
Be complaining at times when we on the phone and they loud in the background screaming crying for no reason (the kids not him)

It’s weird cause I’ve never had a smash relationship before. Either we were a couple or we were nothing. This for ovation life is extra interesting.

In response to Reply # 18

Did you gain any weight? I want to go on Depo.
My biggest concern is weight gain. SO many women over 40 seem overweight despite their best efforts. I think it is a combo of our processed food and excess estrogen.

I only have 1 kid. I am 41. I have a partner who has children and we casually use condoms. He says he doesn't want more kids. I am not positive.I really wish he would get a vasectomy, since he is SURE he doesn't want any more. I hate the idea of dealing with another miscarriage, an abortion or any retroactive prevention.

I have super light periods and no cramps. No side affects. I have never taken Depo because I can’t shake the memory of the girls in my high school taking it and all of their hair falling out. I started getting serious about BC after a pregnancy scare two years ago. After years of having babies, my body was finally feeling like mine again.

I meet men over 40 who always say they don't want to deal with child support, unwanted pregnancies or a crazy baby momma. Then go get a damn vasectomy or use a condom ALL the time!

I really resent that everything falls on the woman when it comes to carefree sex. We have to look amazing, keep our vaginas wet, prevent pregnancy and if birth control fails, get an abortion, or go through with the pregnancy.

Marriage or commitment doesn't prevent or protect the woman from any of this.

To top it all off, this reproductive stage lasts from 15 years old to 50 years old!

All a man has to do is go to an office for 15 minutes. AND his process is reversible!

Even the ones who are clear that they don't want kids, yet they don't want to wear condoms.

Hormone BC is off the table for a few reasons, we were on basal/BBT but then we got pregnant again so...fuck chances, and fuck being pregnant (its incredibly hard on my wife), I'd rather take full control of things, I'm about to be 40, I don't see any case where we would want a third kid now or later.

for yall that have had a vasectomy what kind of side effects did you have? were they what you expected?

definitely seems like the logical choice.

no side effects that I've noticed. everything feels the same. nothing increase or decreased.

were they what you expected?

only expectation was the down time afterwards. no sex for an extended period of time, but that was expected. I didn't wait the recommended time tho.

the pain after the surgery wasn't bad for me, but I've heard others had issues with the pain. you definitely need to schedule it when you have time to do nothing for like 3 days. get it done on a Thursday. take the rest of the weekend to lay around the house.

it became the right option for us. partly because of age. our youngest will be 10 this month. no more oops babies.

That's the only advantage I really see for you.

I never considered a vasectomy. I am in my mid (some might say late but fuck them) 30s.

I have planned with some partners and we just had a calm discussion about what would be the most effective and preferable method for her (some were more concerned about how long they'd have to wait after ceasing birth control to get pregnant, others were worried about weight gain, others it was more a personal preference like avoiding injections or avoiding taking a daily pill and potentially missing it).

When all else failed I relied on that Zidane-level ball control. One jumpoff I had insisted I nut inside her and she took the plan B after. We only fucked every couple of weeks but I can't imagine that was good for her. Her body though.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
