"Jeopardy heads: you following this guy who broke the show?"
Wed Apr-24-19 08:55 PM by PimpTrickGangstaClik

Never seen anything like it.

Dude is winning like $100,000 an episode. His fast on the buzzer, doesn't miss questions, and bets big. He demoralizes the other players a few questions into the game.

They need to bring in Watson to keep the show from going bankrupt.

in terms of his croyat score, which is the cash value of how many questions you get right (not including wagers), minus the ones you give the wrong answer to. The difference is the way he is playing compared to Ken (who didn't even think about playing so aggressively). He is going to change the way people are going to play Jeopardy going forward long after his run will end.

To even compete with him means you would have to adopt his strategy and go for the biggest money questions, beat him to the buzzer, and then get the question right. Given the fact that James is already coming in with a huge advantage in terms of buzzer skills AND his skill at answering questions correctly...well, he is going to be on here for a LONG time. It's going to take way more than him missing a daily double or two.

Jeopardy will probably never see anything like him again. Others may try his tactics, but because of his work, they won't be as successful.

I'm not sure what books he's reading to get all the general knowledge of what questions Jeopardy be asking but he's great at it, I know he's smart about hitting the buzzer before Alex finish talking cause there is a short window before you have to answer the question correctly but damn he's making this show really boring for me now.

This week I haven't watched the show at all, I just wait till other gossip & daily entertainment shows talk about how much he's won so far.

He's gonna blow Jennings' monetary wins out of the water. He'll probably win 3-4 times as much.

But for some reason, I feel like that 74 game streak will be much tougher to get close to. I could be wrong but it's just a feeling I have.

The dude who came in 2nd last night (4/24) had a nice final total of about $20 grand. That must really suck when you do that well but still don't have a chance to win.

Unless they get another Jennings type or spike dudes drink I don’t see how he loses anytime soon.

When you have 20K and still lose by 53K... wtf.

They have to find categories dude has no clue about. He didn’t answer the Ferrari question so I think cars and sports might be his undoing. He prolly knows mad nerdy shit but pop culture might trip him up.

I only watched one night tho so he might know all that shit too.

That's just sick. That's absolutely ridiculous.

>When you have 20K and still lose by 53K... wtf.

That's just demoralizing. Folks probably wait their whole lives for this shot & are out of the game in the first 5 minutes of the 1st round.

I would have thought that as a professional gambler, he might know a little about sports from being around a sports book. But then again, maybe he just sits at poker & blackjack tables all the time.

It's definitely interesting to watch, even though it's not as much fun. The competitiveness is gone right out the window real early.

I've read about dude and watched him play last night. It became instantly clear to me that the other folks had no shot at beating him. He got out a head early going for the high money questions and built a lead that was hard to beat.

But here is thing that surprised me, the people playing him didn't change their game at all. If dude is going straight to the 1000 questions, why would you when you get your chance to play go for a 100 question?

There was even this one time when dude clearly had him beat in a category subject matter knowledge-wise and their were high value questions in that category and dude went and chose the low value question.

You can't do that. If he goes big money you have to go big money to beat him.

Only way I see this dude losing is if he has a disasterous streak of flubbing two daily doubles and the final jeopardy question. Which, isn't all that hard to imagine happening. If that happens and his competitors go straight to the big money questions, he falls.

Fun to watch though. I wonder if he changes the game forever or if it reverts back to the old way after he leaves.

It really doesn’t matter tho. This champ knows his shit so unless he flubs the daily doubles you don’t have a shot.

I forgot what it was. I think it was the one dude built a little bank on.

I think the show will learn over time what his weak categories are. When they are tired of him, and Trebeck seems a little tired of him already, they could just dump those categories on him to try and stop him.

That won't be any time soon though. I haven't watched Jeopardy in YEARS and tuned in last night because of him. He must be printing money for the show.

You have to go big on them and apart from the risk by the time you hit ones that are worth serious money it's the second round and the guy already has a big lead. You nail it and you're still trailing. You'd need to double up late in the second round after a good game and risk it all in final jeopardy. the two times i've watched him that might not have been enough, he was tripling up the competition.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

https://www.wired.com/story/ken-jennings-james-holzhauer-jeopardy/

as Jennings points out, even if they "adapt" to his style, Holzhauer is elite with the buzzer AND because of his profession (which I was pointing out above) he can fuck up and be totally unfazed unlike 99.9999% of humanity.

They took all three daily doubles away from him. But they missed two of them smh.

Lady had a chance to make it a game in final jeopardy, but she chickened out on her daily double bet.

Anyway, he looked like he was beatable at least

Challenger lost with a $53000 total. That has to be the most money for a loser.

I feel bad for dude because he seems like he could have had himself a nice little run if he wasn't up against the cheat code

Right, that dude would have won any other time on Jeopardy, racked up 50,000 but then goes home with just 2,000. That's some bs. lol I forgot they didn't keep their winnings. Man, I'd much rather be a contestant on Wheel of Fortune.

his cocky ass underbitten smirk

he's a professional gambler........but what pisses me off the more is the fact that normally.....he finds the daily doubles....bets HUGE...gets it right and gets big leads QUICKLY....i'm okay with that.....but the OTHER two contestants STOPS PLAYING!!!! UGHHHHH....
They don't try to find the daily doubles....they don't ring in....they do NOTHING............by that time....i'm too pissed to watch

then his smirk tops my levels off

so

yea....

i wish *I* could get on that bidge..........

Jeopardy GOT him last night tho......they KNOW his patterns in going for the $1000 questions first....so they put the daily double down there so he'd get it quickly (not having much money to bet and get ahead)......i peeped that

i'd love to see Ken Jennings....and the Black teen with the afro dig in that ass tho.......

weird.

i don't think he's cocky at all.

i think he's actually much more "human" and relatable than people think he is.

but then i again, i really pay attention to him when he's not playing the game but when he's talking to Alex, etc. i've also seen multiple interviews with him away from the game.

first couple games i ever watched, i thought he was a robot with no personality, but after watching dude dude for like 14 games now he seems much more normal to me.

At the pace he is on, he will hit the record in HALF the time it took Jennings to get it. Everyone is harping on his strategy but his strategy is predicated on getting questions right.

Didn’t Jeopardy just recently double the cash prize per write answer?

However, stats did show that this new guy had a better click rate and correct answer to incorrect answer ratio than Jennings did during his run.

It’s like comparing Montana’s passing yards to Brady’s, different eras of the game.

I was watching like goddamn, this dude is very quick to the punch and doesn't miss. I had no idea that he was running a long streak because I started watching in the second round. Then they showed his total and I was like yoooooooo. He also nailed Final Jeopardy (I got the answer right but wasn't sure) and both the other two contestants whiffed.

Usually we barely hear the other contestants' voices outside of their interviews. But both of them had opportunities to answer questions

I wonder if it was sluggishness on his part or preparation on the other people's part

Glad to see Ken Jennings keep the record though

Either because he was ready to, or he was directed to. No way he wages that little on the final if he really wanted to win.

All good, we'll see him clean up again in the champions tournament.

The only way he could win is if the lady got the question wrong.

She is very likely to bid to get double his score plus 1 dollar. If they both get the correct answer, she wins.
But if they both miss it and James bets small, James wins.

Betting big does nothing for him

During his winning streak he was able to find the daily doubles and make big bets that put the games out of reach.

He was basically kicking field goals tonight while she was scoring touchdowns and despite settling for those field goals he was still in a position to possibly win.

but was doing the patronizing pelosi clap to the winner a few times throughout<--evidence he didnt throw it and was tight at getting beat at his own game

in the end i think she just caught him slipping like when buster douglas caught tyson in tokyo. probably spent the night before partying it up with ken jennings and neil degrasse tyson and he was slightly off his game. no fix

but yea this will definitely be a shift in how ppl play from now on
