"Ilhan Omar, Trump, and 9/11..."
Does anyone else remember Trump making the same mistake months ago while talking about 9/11 to the press?
I could of sworn he referenced 9/11 in a way that many felt minimized and disrespected the memory.
i must say, googling for news articles using the words “Trump” + “disrespectful” produces a laughably embarrassing amount of content to try and search through
i found the fist pump and the 7/11 gaff, but im almost certain a few months ago Trump made a remark about 9/11 almost identical to what Omar said

and they made the lives of millions of Muslims in the Western world worse because of it. To deny her this point is to imply that all Muslims in the world need to constantly distinguish themselves from those "other" muslims who are clearly incompatible with western civ
its also using a form of American civic religion to policy who is allowed to be American
She is a black woman in a hijab. these wypo will find something she says and then twist to rile up their base. and if she dies then its all oopsie daisy...we should really do something about mental health

I genuinely want to know if you think she could avoid this. Because I used to think "well, she's not wrong, but if only she phrased things differently, it could maybe . . ."
But it's clear (in my opinion) that people who only operate with bad faith towards her because they believe she's wrong. Not that her positions are wrong or what she wants to do is wrong, that SHE as a human being is inherently bad.
I don't see how it's avoidable for her.

It really makes it all worth it for him.
Before this "incident" I thought she wasn't doing a great job of focusing on what her constituents would want her to focus on but now I am going to ride for her.

but when she does it, it's a shit storm of biblical proportions she has tangible power and position she's breaking one of the last taboos in American politics and it makes repugs souls burn slow
