Got in early, been in a zone with the headphones on. Gonna leave early too.

Igging EVERYONE here on that passive-aggressive vibe today.

Feeling like going outside and flying around with all the brand new bugs.

Went back home, hung out at a dope lil "day-set" type of thing at a local record shop/beer market. Did my gig Saturday night...might be going back to participate in a local festival next month.

came back home yesterday..game-planning with The Kid for Record Store Day this Saturday. Watched "The Chi".

This new position at work is...interesting. Still tryna get used to being in a more "controlled" environment.

Triple X fun fact

"In 1996, Dr. Dre and Interscope Records sued Triple X Records to remove an album of early Dre material titled First Round Knock Out from the marketplace"

found a brotha with a roofing company. We shall see.

I planned on doing so much this weekend but after the roof and the taxes we got faded and chilled.

My work flow is cool. Just got an idea to put together a 5K race. This should be fun.

Getting ready for this game tonight.

On yesterday evening, she sent me an email with 8 resumes to look at. They came from our partner who is looking to backfill for a sub we had in place here on my team. Told me that, if I wanted to move forward with any of them, I could do so.

That would mean that the dude she hired months ago, but that is due to start next Monday, would be SOL. Hmmm...

Weekend was great otherwise. My nephew turned 16 last week but hung out with his friends, This past weekend was the weekend that he wanted to be with the family. The cat could have picked a ton of places but he chose Golden Corral. LOL

Me and The Wiz hung out with some close friends yesterday. Drank some lychee & vodka martinis, shot the breeze, and just had an all around great Sunday afternoon. My wife needed that kinda distraction because her mom was having surgery this morning.

The surgery was, as of now, a success. My wife worries because she's, essentially, an only kid. I'm happy and can't wait to go check her out when I leave here in a few.

So, I was there last night cleaning uo and inhaling all that damned dust, (and probably) asbestos, and dehydrated mouse turds. She lives a block away from us. So, I couldn't not go help. And damnit... I'd run out of masks. Who knows what got into my lungs?

My manager told me yesterday that she expects to be promoted soon and that her recommendation, to our corporate office, has been that she wants me to take her role as the PM. Told me that her recommendations was met with excitement and agreement. So, now, I've gotta get the PMP outta the way and in a hurry to show that I'm serious about taking that position. I'll finally add the cert to the MS.

MO MONEY, MO MONEY, MO MONEY, MO!

Edit:
Now, I'm sitting in my office listening to this underrated Damon Wayans HBO special.

good on you for helping though and thankfully nobody hurt/injured... mouse turd and asbestos poisoning not withstanding..

congrats on the job prospect good luck...

I need to tap my ambition and put myself in a better position instead of just enduring this one when it's endurable and then being miserable as all git out when it's not... there's better stuff out there I just need to step to it.

Man, I wouldn't be my dad's child if I hadn't helped. Aside from that, I'm the only responsible and dependable man around the entire family. My MIL's friend is not in the best health to be extending himself. The other possibilities don't show up. Just a bunch of women who have had to do for themselves for so long that, unfortunately, they have no expectations of their grandsons, sons, uncles, brothers, etc. Mofos just don't show up and show out. So, I had to. My nephew is watching.

WORD! I appreciate it, fam. It's really easy to get comfortable and complacent regardless of your respective station in life. I see it. I feel it. I'm it. I've hidden behind the excuse of not wanting to be a PM, despite completing grad education in it, that I've gotten complacent. This news, from my manager, should be the jump starter for my next phase. I've gotta execute or be stagnant. It's time for another victory lap.

I like stuff..
My wife likes stuff...
My daughters like stuff...
And again, my nephews are watching...

I ain't got a choice but to go get it.

still some lingering vibe... but yeah the pot lid is clamped on and feels like I'm less likely to go full pressure cooker explosion...

though I didn't tell this story... on the weekend the four units at the opposite corner of our townhouse complex exploded and burnt up... nobody was hurt I think but the cops had the place all taped off and cars out front still yesterday... apparently it started when a 20lb propane bottle went KABOOM... waiting to find out how much it's going to cost the strata... believe it's the homeowners responsibility to have the insurance to cover it but no confidence that will be the way it shakes out.

the fact that the cops have been parked out there 3 days makes me wonder.. the new said nothing about anyone being hurt just that families were without homes.. there's been no gossip with our neighbors about it..

i'm thinking at the least there's some kind of investigation happening.. maybe insurance fraud and/or arson?.. can't imagine they'd park cops there just to keep folks out of the debris.. would they?

Manager not here today...

My door is closed and I'm grooving to some Nipsey with a little more volume.

Supposed tt be putting a training package together but I'm not feeling it right now.

I'm laughing at Magic right now.

Sitting here tripping on my little one wrapping up her second year of college already. Now, I need these VA benefits to kick in at a rate that would allow her tuition to be paid by the benefit instead of outta my pocket.

This sunlight got me on some PHUCK WORK kinda vibe.

reading some philosophy right now and yesterday I was acutely aware of how useful what I was reading could be if only I could embrace it but my attitude was like I have zero fucks to give... willfully self destructive type ish. smdh.

can't parley that into leaving a half hour early or getting in a half hour late.. so I'm starting to put off my afternoon break too and am just going to start taking the last 45 mins of the day to read in the common area... as much as I'd like to get home earlier.. this ought to be a pretty nice chill way to end my days.. until they find some problem with that practice *knock on wood*

i thought i read you saying you dont eat but i thought i misread. i was thinking maybe you meant only on specific days or something. have you always been like that?

ill have my coffee first thing, 8 am. try to have yogurt between 9-10, closer to 9 if possible. some almonds around 11 then go to lunch somewhere between 12 and 2. with the switch boxing ive been doing i wont eat dinner until 7-8. i was trying to stick to 7.

good news on the work side. everything is quiet now. bad thing?? its cuz folks are gone lol. nothing solved. were trying to push this on to our vendor. i dont honestly think they did anything wrong but i dont have an answer on how to fix it. i have to give the guys some credit, theyve been trying to get it to work for over a day at this point. all i can do is tell them, according to ___ this problem can be caused by a, b, c or d. all they tell me is yeah everything is good.

when i got back from lunch the guy the worked the night shift came in and he said he used a few substances on the material that seems like could had caused problems so im pretty sure they know it and are trying to just get their butts saved.

my officemate had the nerve to say the boss said we cant be sitting on our hands we need to have this fixed. uh.......what you think weve been doing???? i ALMOST snapped at her but i took a moment and said were on it. lol

was in a pretty good mood until I opened email...

I'm ticked because somebody duplicated my work and what's more is we had discussed it together in detail came to an agreement of how to do it. I went ahead and did the work only to find out he did the same work in parallel using a different method.... now the business is stuck looking at both of these solutions and they've essentially crashed into each other in an automated deployment system..

I'm pissed because this guy was supposed to be a resource to me and at one point in our discussions he put me off and said he didn't have time to discuss it anymore.

wtf buddy? F you that's some trifling type ish imo.

do you think he was trying to one-up you? if he would had told you he was going to do it would you have been cool with it and not wasted your time?

if it makes you feel betters things pretty much blew up for my situation lol i got a call from the vendor, he had spoken to my coworker. told me they had seen similar issues with other customers and they were going to redo the material and send it out to us. great right? so i ask him, just to confirm, this is at no charge right? thats when his whole tone changed. how dare i ask him that? of course it wont be at no charge. bringing up old stuff and blah blah. so uhm yeah. im confused about the whole situation and not sure where it will end up. we agreed they will get the material to us then we will discuss the costs.

havent talked to my boss about it. customer is asking for an update. im not convinced that the vendor will solve it, at least not based on what he told me. if he is withholding info because he knows they did mess up then okay i can see how it will be fixed but with what we he said its a crapshoot. im hoping it works.

i know i will need to answer to my boss for it but uhm there really wasnt anything i could have done.

im reaching out to other sources to try to get some independent confirmation. make sure that the vendor used what they were supposed to. unfortunately i dont have a way to check this stuff unless i buy some expensive software and even then im not sure. just talked to the software vendor and he wasnt sure, he was waiting for someone else to confirm.

wheres that calm dude in a burning room gif?

He could do it, I could do it.. it should be done one way by one of us not 2 ways by both of us?

I've no understanding why he would want to one up me.. we aren't in competition that I can tell and his position is solid.. as is mine really... and there's no more money for anybody to be getting.. I think it's some kind of weird flake out or personal thing tbh... but really F'd if i know wtf.

Probably gets beat down in other aspects of his life, so he decided to puff his chest out and make a stand for himself in one of the safest places he could: at work.

I got dudes at my job that draw weird lines in the sand also, and I wonder what's going on with them. One dude last summer vehemently argued with some other coworkers about his right to wear shorts at work, and what if I wore a skirt?" and just kept going on. All the other coworker said was that the HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT had said 'no shorts,' and was trying to keep him out of trouble.

I had more respect for him tbh.. he's damn good.. I mean I'm good af myself but he's a guy I respect.. I mean there's a reason I looked to him as a resource... I've always treated him with mad humility too.. like to the point of self deprecation.. maybe that was a mistake... I don't know I'm still waiting for some kind of explanation about why the work was duplicated.. it's possible there was a legitimate reason as his delivery was ordered by a different group than mine even though they will share the end solution.. and maybe he forgot we had discussed it... we deal with a ton of these things over the year.

oh well my email will probably be ignored all round.. nobody cares if my nose is out of joint except in that it makes me a pariah... and sometimes getting any kind of action or response out of our leadership is like pulling teeth... I feel acutely compelled to keep all feedback to myself as much as absolutely possible because it really goes nowhere..,. they demonstrated than ample times.

it turns out that in the end the two businesses will not be sharing the same solution... basically the work I did was for a customer that has much stricter environmental constraints where as the work he did was for a customer with a much looser environment who actually prefers not to use the delivery method that my solution was forced to adopt to meet my customers requirements.

wish I had the patience to have sorted that out before I got all irked about it... my emails weren't terrible but I feel like a bit of a chump right now.

lol I may not be the worst but sometimes I'm a crap person.

I'm practically all the way back at square one with my work because of this bs....

all because they've determined mine is the one they want to rename.. nevermind the fact that renaming his would be much easier to accomplish given the fewer constraints of his client...

renaming mine means we have to go back to other groups to have their work adjusted as well and then re-verify and test the whole thing with the client who's been waiting an age already and is basically going to be asked to do all their testing which they already signed off on over again.

or maybe not all that in the end now I'm hearing... dam I get going half cocked on stuff sometimes/too often.. man need to take that Hitchiker's Guide mantra to heart "DON'T PANIC!" smdh.. is it the end of day yet? * desperately checks the time * ... I need at least one win today.. even if these beatings and losses aren't as bad as I fear.. I still need that win... lol this guy just bailed me out too.. he's one-upped me not intentionally but I am schooled... it wasn't my mistake it was just a bad timing and coordination thing we didn't realize we were both doing the same/similar work and he got in before me so his worked scooped the required naming convention.. would have been best if we saw it coming and planned for two different names...

the vendor finally admitted that they messed up. unfortunately i didnt catch the beginning of the conversation so im still a bit confused. the gist i got was that they have issues with their equipment and they will have techs look at it. more importantly the redo will be at no charge to us.

this at least puts me at ease for now that they will be able to fix the issue. yesterday i left thinking we are going to be charged and i didnt even know if the problem would be fixed.

i was minutes if not seconds from hitting send on an email explaining what i knew at that point which basically was saying there was no confirmation on the issue and we were going to be on the hook for the charges. even throwing some blame on the production team. coworker came in right before i wrapped up the email with the vendor on the phone.

were still in a bind with our customer but there is light at the end of tunnel at least.

for now.
