And because it's not too far from what a significant chunk of the country also believes, we can't do anything about the root causes of their extremism, so we just keep waiting for it to get worse.

Russian, Chinese and North Korean hackers have access right now to who knows what. We have no idea what Putin's endgame is with Trump and the U.S. Thousands of troll accounts have flooded Twitter and Facebook and other platforms...
at this point, anything can happen..nothing can be ruled out.

Funding isn't a hurdle.
I think geography would be more of an issue (in this hypothetical situation that I don't believe is plausible). If you think it would go down along political ideological lines, the right and left are interspersed throughout the country. Would people migrate to areas based on ideology? Doubt it.
