but the guy in the mirror is looking right.

I've put in at least 40 min./day the last 5 days. It's raining today, so I'll probably just do dumbbell work at home.

I've been trying to taper off on smoking/drinking and I find myself eating a lot of junk. I don't see a six-pack happening

down to 160 lbs from ~185 at this time last year. lifting every other day. doing yoga on non-lifting days. buying a stationary bike this weekend. just need to get my diet in order. already rarely eating red meat but i still eat too much meat. would love to hit a 50% vegetarian diet like i had a few years ago. quitting sugar feels like it's impossible

In response to Reply # 0

Last year I got up to 345. Down to 312 now.

Going to hike Half Dome again on August 17th - the goal is to lose 30 pounds before then. (I hiked it once at 290 and it was doable.)

So it's about hiking mileage, leg strength and back strength at this point.

It's good to have a goal - it does help motivate.

I am probably in the worst shape I have been in in years. Had a pretty rough bout w depression last summer and have had little to no desire to work out since then. I've been hoopin all my life and haven't found joy in that either. Gonna try a boxing gym soon and hope that brings the fire back. If you guys are up to do some kind of accountability group, I'm in

I'd like to drop 20 by June

And man, I feel you so deep on that depression shit and not wanting to do anything that will actually be beneficial to you. I was there, big time. But my man, as you probably already know, the exercise has done miracles for my depression and anxiety. Honestly, I'm not sure where I would be right now under the current circumstances I am dealing with if I weren't so committed to improving my physical health.

I say all that to say, I will be your accountability partner if you need one, because mine has been instrumental in my path to positive physical, mental and emotional health.

I appreciate you, man. I will let you know in like a week. Next week will be my first time giving a concerted effort on my own. If that's a L then I'll need the accountability

I’ve been lifting weights and running 4 times a week. Havent been following any diets except eating smaller portions and eating out a lot less.

Recently went through a difficult break up so I am finding motivation out of that.

And that is also taking into account muscle mass gain. I'm very pleased with where I'm at right now and excited about where it's going.

I turned 40 last Sunday and I am probably in the best shape of my life.

Can't be gaining at that pace any more. I put that on in two years (20 pounds) , which was VERY noticeable, I can't imagine five months. But yeah, felt like shit, blood pressure went up all that shit.

Get on it, young man. Make it a priority.

These coming months is all about being humble, focused, and committed to geting in leaner shape. Also going to clean up my eating habits to heavily cut down the raisin bread/almond butter sandwiches I tend to snack on to maximize my fat loss.

The blend can be quite habit forming. Take it from me.

At the most, eat them as a cheat meal, if you believe in such a thing.

my job has made going to the gym a no-go. basically once a week, if at all.

don't think I've gained any weight, but I feel different. so I bought a dumbbell set for the house. I still have some time to get my no shirt while jogging in the summer body together. prolly won't do that, but want to feel like I can.

biggest problem is eating tho. need way more discipline on that. gonna try more regularly scheduled fasting too.

Always been a big dude, and dabbled in powerlifting at one point, but that's not the move anymore. I'm of a certain age, and the joints are killing me these days....especially my hip.

Since the new year, I've been cleaning things up one by one. Right now, I'm intermittent fasting (8/16 schedule), doing kettlebells and long walks for fitness, and managing my hydration better. I can tell a big difference.

Next up, getting more sleep and trying yoga.

I do so miss the weights though. My son's getting in shape for lacrosse, so I take him to the local LA Fitness to workout. I pass the free weight section and see the muscleheads in their weight belts getting up under a rack of plates...and I want to jump in. But I have to remember that back when I was strong as an ox, I was a wreck everywhere else.

most of my adult life ive worn L. a few years ago i had to go up to XL, now 2 XLs fit me nicely.

too scared to even check the scale. ive made improvements to my diet but i wouldnt describe it as healthy.

never been big on exercising. i have a stationary bike that i used for a few weeks. i wouldnt do more than like 20 mins a day. no motivation to push through more than that.

i did do a trial of this boxing game on the switch that i enjoyed. it seemed to give a decent workout and i would keep wanting to do more. only reason i stopped was because the trial was ending. im worried i would get bored of it though. i might go ahead and get it and give it a shot. try to get back on the stationary.

if i can wear XL comfortably again sometime this year id be happy.

off my running regimen as the days got shorter and colder...
FF to January and decided to register for this GW Classic 10 miler in April as a catalyst to get back out in these streets again...
Fcked around and developed ITBS trying to get at it too fast....
Sitting here in March now and struggling to maintain 10min/mile past 4 miles...
I'ma keep pushing though...stretching and then pushing.... I think the warmer temps will help a ton. Trying to get 45min runs in during the work day has been a challenge because fckers keep wanting to have BS meetings every damn day!
Fck them meetings though...I'm calling into them shits now...put my shit on mute and keep getting them miles in...

In response to Reply # 0

I lost a ton of weight over the last two years (known heaviest was 326lbs) and i'm sitting at 209lbs as of this morning. I've been stuck around between 206-216lbs since October, which considering the holidays, cold weather and bday trip i'm not mad at all about it. got my apple watch goal at 1050 active calories for the day, and i haven't missed a day since early february.

that said i've been running 2-3 times a week (usually 4-6 miles each time) and my pace has improved from 10min/mile to ~9min/mile. been dealing with some nagging hip pain after the runs but i'm powering through them. a friend and i are thinking of signing up to run Bay2Breakers 15k in SF. i'm confident i can do the distance, the city hills scare me a bit since i don't have any hills to train on where i'm located. i'm trying to get into a cadence of running every other day, where right now i might run with several day gaps before the next one, and other times i'll run back to back days.

going to gym has been almost non-existant recently, maybe twice a month. and when i go i just do intervals on the treadmill and weight lifting working out my back. I read an article about a 30 day squat routine to do at home i'm thinking of taking a stab at, then add in push ups and planks to compliment all the cardio i do.

Before/after:

http://tinypic.com/r/b96dyc/9

I’m 6’5” and started at 395, down to 275 now with around 40 more to go. Intermittent fasting has been key on the nutrition side, and with exercise it’s been weightlifting (squats, deadlifts, bench, overhead press) and HIIT cardio.

Hhaha! that's awesome man, crazy how much different the weight makes. not just on your appearance but i'm sure your overall confidence is through the roof. When i go to restaurants i don't worry anymore if the chair will be able to hold me or if i'll fit in the booths. it's also strange not being the heaviest person wherever i'm at.

I've currently been intermittently fasting for over a month. It was a little brutal at first, but it's now become second nature.

I started from the exact same weight (though shorter and stockier), and while I haven't weighed myself, I can tell by my clothes and energy level that changes are happening.

You've definitely given me fuel to keep grinding. Thanks!

The kids are old enough to sit in a bike trailer now.

I haven't done this, so I'm assuming I'd be hella tired. but I also like to on 2-3 hour rides. most of that is on the street, so it wouldn't make sense for me.

Y'all buy those labels, I was born supreme

America has imported more warlord theocracy from Afghanistan than it has exported democracy.

yup in 30s

closest I ever got to rim was the base of it and that was in high school.

Never really an athlete but coordinated and fast.

So now all I watch is vertical jumping videos and workout plans.

tapping bottom of backboard after two weeks.

gotta drop 20 to 25 lbs

So in Dec I hit the 60 lbs lost mark, but the last three months have been super tough for me. I've gained back like 12 lbs, and it's been hard to get back in the grove I was in. Short term goal is to get back to eating right, and now with the warmer weather it should be easier to get motivated to work out again.

In response to Reply # 0

...tho I'm only about 5 pounds heavier than six months ago, I've strengthened-up a lot. Been mainly working my core, doing 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week. Someone here suggested I look into 5x5, and that was a great suggestion. I modified my workout to be more sustainable & targeted.

I need to add in cardio (biking or jogging). Going to hit 80f for the first time this year here. I'm ready for some shirtless jogs, lol. These warm days are what I was working for when out doing pull ups at the park in 20f.
