I was driving Uber and had that song on a shuffle playlist
Picked up some Spanish speaking passengers and they were liking my music and the vibe etc...i was chatting w/them a bit in Spanish, to practice...then that song came on and i was legit embarrassed at the beginning part...i skipped to the next song quickly LOL
first time ever I saw the song in the context of it being not cool. Now its hard for me to listen to it

because they're not meant to be antagonistic (correct me if I'm wrong), they're meant to be fun(ny). they're both kind of ignorant.
Especially Stevie, when he starts doing that on that song I fall out laughing every time, same as the end of the album version of "I Left My Wallet In El Segundo" where you can hear Phife say "JALAPENO CHIPS!"

The "look at you then put her hand on her pocketbook" is one that's obvious. That hand does NOTHING but let me know that she thinks I'm a thief. It does nothing to stop theft, because I could take the bag anyway if I really wanted to.
Most of the micro-aggressions I see are like this. Seemingly benign actions that really don't make any sense when you look at the greater context.
Pretending not to see me while walking to my path (in order to make ME move out of the way) is another one. Seemingly an accident, but it's really not.

I got some Jamaican inlaws who usually sound "normal" but when they get around other Jamaicans or see some strategic advantage to doing it, drop into the heaviest Jamaican accent. I wonder if that's what Phife dawg does at time or is it a Ja Fakin accent.

I'm thinking, there is no "t" or "g" in "bussin'" (probably not a Philly term, similar meaning to "baggin'")
Drives me crazy. Always *those* types of folks that do this too. You know, the ones that moved to a city two years ago and now they know more than the locals that grew up there.
Then you correct them and they want to argue with you.
I'm sure this happens in every city that experiences gentrification. Just waiting for y'all to let us know when they try to gentrify go-go so we can get on the bus and come protest.
