how are you handling playlists?? 1000 songs is too little right?? in the web player it looks like i can shuffle my playlists...or shuffle anything?? that could work but i dont listen using the web player. is this option available in the app? to shuffle between all my playlists?
i like to shuffle all the songs i really like unless i specifically want to listen to an album or artist. radio has been mostly miss especially with trying to shuffle different genres or even sub-genres. it works mostly well if you want to listen to one specific style.
also, have you had problems with songs being identified incorrectly? specifically so far to go on the shinning seems to be the instrumental. at first it was set as a match from my uploads. i deleted the song from my library but it still plays the instrumental but doesnt list it as instrumental?? is this happening for anyone else? luckily i have an mp3 on my phone so i put that on my playlist....but it actually wouldnt let me at first. it kept saying 1000 song limit even though i had at least 40 songs available. i ended up having to create a new playlist to add it to then added my playlist to the new one.
what are some significant albums or artists that are missing in streaming? little brothers the listening isnt available...even to buy right? eagles isnt available to stream but you can buy. no internal affairs.
jay-z vol 3 is missing some songs i know were on the CD.
are older rap albums low quality on all streaming platforms or just google? found this out with 2pac and BDPs first albums and a few others. i deleted any upload version i had from my library to make sure i was listening to googles version of it. they all sound low volume wise. some of them i was able to find versions of the songs from greatest hits albums that sounded good but..why?
if i could pay for tidal with google credit i might look into switching. for now im thinking im going to have to bootleg some high quality rips of some albums and upload them.
what else have you noticed that you dont like on google play?

rate still..
It seems to get worse and worse.
First they fcked up playlists and changed the interface Then they fcked up Genre sorting Then they completely REMOVED genres altogether! WTF?!?! Now the only way to see New Releases is to go to the New Releases tab and scroll and HOPE something strikes your fancy. Don't even get me started on the "Stations"...I gave up on those a long time ago.
If they end up taking YouTube Red out of the equation (right now it's included with GPM)...then i'm ditching it altogether and going to Spotify or Apple. Still something about the Tidal interface that bugs me..... Also I still don't trust that they're going to be around for the long haul for some reason.

or whatever theyre calling it. i think i had to pay $2 more a month but i was so tired of ads or those few times when you need to do something else while watching a youtube video.
i can get 6 months free of apple music...if i wasnt so anti apple i might give it a try.
the main reason im thinking tidal is the lossless format. i would definitely do a trial to make sure its noticeable though.
3. "Wait, do you already pay for Google Play Music?" In response to Reply # 2
If yes, then there's no need to pay for YouTube Premium. Maybe i'm grandfathered in or something.....

I'm still not convinced that there's a notable difference between standard biterate streaming vs. "Hi Res".... maybe my hearing just isn't that good either lol...

theres like a youtube music that is included with GPM now. you can use the youtube music app to play music videos or music and it will play in the background but uhm a third app??
when i signed up for GPM i was thinking ad free youtube was a nice bonus then i saw it wasnt there lol
6. "Definitely grandfathered in" In response to Reply # 4
I has Youtube Premium by accident (never leave your phone unlocked with a 5 year old) but kept it because it removed the ads, which made it worth it. GPM was just an added perk for me. I uploaded a bunch of my music library there some years back and mainly keep the player on shuffle or use it for podcasts (which is serviceable, but not great by any stretch)

im searching for these songs that are not from the artists albums from my post in the lesson. sometimes it finds videos in google play but if i play them it will stop playing if i turn it off. i have to open youtube and search for the song there so it will keep playing.

but still a sad day for me hearing the news. When I got the notifications to move my uploaded music over to YouTube music I wasn't surprised, they hadn't put any effort into Google Music in years it seemed.
Are you going to migrate over to YouTube Music or use something else??
12. "they are making youtube with ads worse" In response to Reply # 11
i can't play youtube and just let it play, the ads are sometime 30 minutes long. and they are now playing 3 ads in a row and not letting you skip anymore.

13. "Ad free YT kept me with Google Play for longer than I wanted to stay" In response to Reply # 11
My ad blocker basically takes care of that on my laptop, but they can be infuriating on mobile.
My YT mobile usage isn't enough to warrant paying for the ad free experience, but even if it gets to that I'll pay for but continue to use Spotify as YT Music doesn't look like an enjoyable experience at all. Plus, Spotify is unmatched when it comes to curated playlists and whatnot.
10. "I fully switched to ytm a couple months back" In response to Reply # 7
Playlist management sucks. Cant select multiple songs to remove, add or move in a playlist. Takes a long while on the web player to load large playlists.
Other than that its mostly fine. The shuffle is eh.
15. "YTM has a scaled down version of that range sort that GPM uses" In response to Reply # 10
long-short of it is YTM is a clone of youtube back end service and they haven't adjusted for the shuffle playlist length. (shuffles 25 songs vs GPM, which used to shuffle 70 or something on mobile)
What this means in usage is the clip of songs used for shuffling gets ridiculously predictable. They are in a hyper sprint right now to fix things, but I can guarantee you smaller stuff like this will get overlooked once its over, then they wont fix a thing for two years.
if I'm being honest I have thought about going iphone quite a few times, I never had issues with itunes shuffle at all.

Boo this.
I got my google library moved over to YTM a while back so I'm good there. And I've been trying to use YTM, but it sucks in a few sneaky ways that Play didn't like folks have mentioned.
The playlist management and shuffle issues are the most brutal.
I DO like that you can throw a Youtube video into a music playlist. That helps when you have something squirrelly that isn't usually on a streaming service.
For me, I usually don't go beyond 600 songs for playlists, but the lack of reliable shuffle is sending me back into just listening to full albums again. Maybe this isn't a bad thing? I hope they get it right.
