Luther Vandross was the producer on that. He was the new hot artist and his version of the song plays for a full minute and forty eight seconds before Aretha comes in. When she heard his version she threw a fit and so thats why there is a single version where she comes in a lot early around 26 seconds

stuff, I was surprised at how much I remembered most of the "highlights" of this late 70's/early 80's era. Because my playlist is so short, I thought there must be some songs that slipped my mind.
but, after checking out that spotify boogie/post-disco/funk playlist that double negative posted, I really remembered most of what I probably valued of that era, besides some of the other suggestions people posted.
My others playlists for different genres are longer so I don't know why there isn't more songs, but then songs like "never too much" and "le freak" "don't stop till you get enough" I've heard too much, even though they belong there.
