Not sure how well "let's reach out to our Republican brethren and be friends, also venture capitalists can do no wrong" will play in a Dem primary in 2020.

Anyone ever see the documentary Street Fight about his 2002 Newark mayoral run? It's definitely worth watching, if only as a reminder that local politics at the city/county/district level are always 100x wilder than the national level (at least pre-Trump.)

Democrats have yet to field anyone I want to support.
Julian Castro might be the closest so far. But that might just be because I'm a bit more ignorant about him.
I will say that I never want to vote for a white president again. Especially not a white male president.
But if these ain't bout the worse lot of poc candidates...

Right now Warren's got the best policies of anyone who has announced hands down. Castro's not bad, I just don't see how he doesn't get squeezed out by some of the bigger name candidates. If there's someone that needs to run on the "but maybe we can win Texas this time," I'd prefer him to Beto.

I like his story

I like his drive

but there is something there thats missing for me

then again...I feel that way about pretty much all the potential candidates

i hate this feeling.

I think....I keep thinking about, who of these potential candidates will feel reassuring when and IF some terrible shit goes down?

I know, weird metric.

Coming off George Bush and his financial crisis.

Short Record so they can't go back and pull skeletons out his political closet like these other politicians getting roasted for their records in the 90s.

And also because of his background and color people saw him way more progressive then he actually was.

Running against a frontrunner who was very disliked and he provided a viable alternative.

I think the feeling is worse for Booker, though.

Who is his base? Who is he locking in? Who his hyped today over this?

I don't see it. I read that Sanders vetted him as a potential VP in 16- even that is strange to me.

Was the thinking "I gotta lock in the black vote" or "find someone who makes me seem more normal by comparison"?

But then I kind of feel bad for saying these things. Why do I feel bad for Cory Booker? lol

I'm not really sure, it's going to be too crowded of a field for someone like him. There could be worse options, but what does he actually bring to the table?

Here's an outline of Cory Booker's policies:

https://twitter.com/JStein_WaPo/status/1091368385114529793

.@CoryBooker's key 2020 policies, per aides:
-- "Baby bonds" to wipe out wealth gap
-- Sweeping criminal justice reform (more in next tweet)
-- Antitrust action
-- Legalize marijuana
-- Job Guarantee pilot
-- Housing tax credits 4 renters
-- Green New Deal
-- M4A

Hadnt realized breadth of Booker's criminal justice plans

Including:
-- Beef up $ for public defenders;
-- $ for areas hurt by War on Drugs;
-- "Ban the Box;"
-- Improve treatment of incarcerated women
-- Federal $ to states to reduce prison pops
-- New police accountability rules

I'd have to think about baby bonds some more.

I didn't realize his stance on cjr either.

I'll say this- with pretty much everyone for M4A, I think the first candidate who is able to effectively present HOW they would implement it will have an advantage.

unfortunately you those who vote against their interest because they got theirs and despise illegals.

There is nothing we can do for those folks. They too far gone.

It’s white women.. and lord knows we can’t trust their vote.

People talk about coming off phony....This guy is==>Fugazi

There is nothing not calculated, researched or designed to give him an advantage. He is the number one stunna for all of the political stunts that he pulls.

The "hotpockets" and "burning building incidents" didn't go down as the media reported. Just like his I am Spartacus moment.. Everything is staged and exaggerated to heighten his image. Somehow the media let's him get away with it.

There are never Trumpers. I'm a never Corey.

(The duels with Sharpe James were epic though..Corey gave as good as got)
