Office manager wants to tell her new report her outfit is too sexy. Office Manager, who is the homey, asked me what I think. I thought it was damn sexy, but if I tell the office manager that she going to tell her to tone it down.

What to do??!?!

Women were salty as hell at a co-worker for dressing like that. They kept telling me to report her to our manager.

ME: Aw, for real??? Man, I hadn't even noticed. Y'all know I don't pay attention to nothin'. *nervous laugh*

P.S. I didn't say a damn word to my manager.

Maybe it's my profession (tech), but I've never understood the need for eye candy or anything more in the office. It's nothing but a distraction from my true purpose for being there: To make money.

- Plenty of women outside for eye candy if you're in a big city.
- Plenty of women outside to holler at, too.
- None of those women will go to HR for in "inappropriate" comment, look, gesture, facial tic, etc.

Y'all (a couple of dudes) are straying into the danger zone by even talking about her outfit.

>What to do??!?!

Ignore and K.I.M., because M.O.B. (OK, J/K)

I didn't go around talking about it & pointing it out to people. I noticed it & moved on. When it was brought to my attention by co-workers, I played dumb.

It's always better to have something nice to look at compared to the alternative.

I would get annoyed at the young cats who didn't know how to act when she was around. But other than that, I just enjoyed the view.

It didn't mess with my job because I wasn't ignoring work to stare at her. And I would never have even thought about pushing up on her.

...or designing a database schema or setting up servers.

I get what y'all are saying, but I actually like doing my work and go to work to get better at it so I can make more money and thus have WAY more options to look at titties than those of the handful of women in my gig.

Different strokes, I guess. I'm trying to retire early, not live an episode of "The Office" for the next 30 years.

Technically the job isn’t open, so I can only hold it for a year ... but what they usually do is wait until that year ends ... send a person back to their job for a week ... and then put them in for another year.

But they’re not. Which is fine.

So I’m just here. Like I’m looking at these emails that’ll be a two week problem and just ... 🌚

I have mixed feelings about all this but more than anything I’m hoping it’s a clean break, that the detail ends ... I get a job offer and I neither have to worry about this mess or going back to my old job.

So we’ll see. Interview Monday, which is around the same time I’m supposed to hear back from the other two gigs. So “technically” there’s a 25% chance that I’ll be still here complainifng

But in the mean time. As these emails pop up .... 🌚

Meanwhile I’m looking at these Texas real estate prices with quiet delight.

That’s how I feel with finances right now.

Finally saw my Dad in a dream last night. He was cooking at the diner like the one on the Docks in the second season of the Wire. A package came thru and I said it looked like the gummy erasers we sued when we would sketch on notepads when I was a kid.

We laughed about that.

I been listening to 70’s and 80’s soul and 80’s pop synth the last week. I love that shit.

Anyone ever sample Duran Duran’s Save A Prayer? That shit is smooth as hell. Also love Gimme the Nights female background vocals.

gut check. we had a meltdown at my house this week cuz my son is fucking up in school. my kids have always been on honor roll or higher since forever. so its surprising that he's doing so poorly. and its all about him choosing to make bad decisions.

anyway, she wrote a letter and everything. they're both crying. it was not pretty. so I gotta change how I approach shit with my folks at the house. my son is way more sensitive to words then I realized.

I told her thanks for telling me and supporting her brother. she's pretty standoffish normally when it comes to her brother. I apologized and promised to do communication better.

She is at the age where she has no problem saying no...

That’s not a problem but she is also hitting. Hitting me, my wife and her little sister. There are some boys in her clas and I think she is bringing some of there aggressiveness home. She is also 3 so I know it’s mostly just her age.

I chase her around the house when we are playing and she loves it BUT last night I chased her after she ran off when she was supposed to do something. She screamed like I was a serial killer.

My wife thinks she is running game and she might be right.

Felt like a gut punch since all this time his primary doc was telling us he was def not autistic. But the irony is now that I did some researched, read a few books, and talked with my parents about myself as a toddler and kid..... I am actually autistic and we never knew all this time. I was doing ALL the same things he is doing now. But back then ppl just thought I was quiet and weird etc. So Im hopeful that since I was able to make a pretty good life that he will too. Time will tell how severe it is but this early intervention is promising. And more than I had LOL.

like

its becoming something it seems where more and more people are coming out of the closet about it.

recently one friend talked about it on social media to air it out. I never had any idea about it but it was important that she open up about it because it seems like we're now starting to understand what autism actually looks like and it doesnt look like what most people think it might look like.

I think this was the video she shared: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwEH9Ui4HV8&t=31s

but I feel you on learning more about yourself...I learned recently that I myself am ADHD-PI so...gut check to myself indeed.

(I cant believe i just shared this on okp)

Do you mind sharing some of these things that you and your son did at this toddler age?

I am a 30-something Black woman. I often wondered if I'm on the spectrum. Girls, especially Black girls, often go undiagnosed. I am so weird and awkward but I know being on the spectrum involves more than just that. The oddness didn't start until my teen years when I became a loner. That was because I grew apart from my friends due to my rapidly changing and radically different interests. It seems that I only developed those eccentricities due to circumstance (too much time alone. LOL) and not due to my brain, though. I don't know. My mom said I was a "normal" toddler/child.

my daughter leaves Saturday to go live with her biological Dad for a bit (typical TV-show teenage girl shit)

my little brother's birthday is Saturday

I gave HER money this morning to get her nails done, and I'm gonna taker her to breakfast (1-on-1) Friday..my day off

My wife is on this 'we should do something together as a family, it's her last night' shit but I'm like 'eh'.

our relationship 'is what it is'. I'm not trying to do the 'performative' shit when I'd rather be somewhere else.

also I think I'm having my midlife thing.

meh.

Monday was the last day at my job (retail business, corporate office decided to close our location) where I've been working at for the last six years, even though I've been trying to find better work for the past two years, but I kind of liked it and finally worked my way up to 3rd key manager & shit.

Anyway, after we cleaned out the place, shipped everything, etc. said all our goodbyes, on the way home I ended up with a flat tire on the highway, I knew what tire it was cause it was the only one that had less tread on it but been kind of lazy replacing it.

I stopped right after getting off the highway, and parked behind a restaurant, and was like no biggie, just got to change the tire with the spare; but here's the kicker, when I went in the truck lift up the truck floor, no tire, no tire iron, no jack, just a box and some handsized gizmo, I was so pissed.

So I had to call for a tow, since there wasn't a new/used tire spot in a mile walk-able distance, besides if I did buy a tire I would still need the tools to change it, so I got a tow to a Firestone spot near my home (the tow guy took an hour to get me), when I got to Firestone, they said it was going to take two hours to get to my car cause five of their mechanics called out sick (it actually took 3 hours).

Talk about trying to enjoy the last day, now I'm out of $200 (that's $75 for the tow, and $125 for a new tire & service); I still got to find out what happened to my spare tire & tools, I've had this car for over a year but never once checked to see if it had one when I bought it from Enterprise.

on a side note..
Since this is confession Wednesday and all...
I'll bury this here...

When I get loaners from the VW Dealership when I have to take mine in for service...
They'll frequently loan me a brand new joint that they've pulled from the fleet and put into Loaner service....

Them joints often still have the floor mats, accessory kits, cargo nets, first aid kits, etc... just laying in the trunk.

I gank them shits...
Real talk.

I know plenty of people who would do it, but not me I would feel bad & guilty about that shit, but I'm just going to go to a pull-a-part spot and find what I need.

tires LOL...

But I suspect that others wouldn't and that's likely what happened to yours prior to it being sold to you by Enterprise.
Most folks don't bother checking the spare tire compartment, so don't feel bad.

I was googling to find out what the hell was in the spare tire compartment and found out (it was a tire-inflator/compressor kit), I'm not the only one, it's the new idea car companies came up with to cut down on weight of the car by 50lbs by eliminating the spare tire, jack, & tire-iron cause they can now say the cars get more gas mileage, dumb right?

WPOTGIT??!
Are the tires run-flats?

I know my Touareg has this weird spare tire that's flat as a pancake and you're supposed to use the compressor to inflate it prior to installing it. WHen you inflate, it's a donut, but a big ass 19" donut...

...was in the garden of my son's school. One of the white teachers planted it (one of her relatives has a farm), and none of the black teachers wanted to touch it (lol) so I came with some scissors and took a few flowers. Going to plant the seeds in a few weeks so I can grow some in my garden this year.

I'm dedicated that future harvest to the ancestors, as a free man on his own land growing cotton freely of his own will.

Non-commercial cotton growing *is* illegal in certain states to prevent the spread of a Weevil. Fortunately, Pennsylvania isn't on the list but I'm going to keep an eye out for any pests. Pennsylvania's recently had these show up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_lanternfly So I'm wary of pests in the garden. I've quit growing pumpkins for a few because of the squash bugs, for example.

Here are the list of states where growing cotton in your garden is illegal: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia

Kinda..

What we think will instill a feeling of appreciation for what our ancestors went through mostly falls on deaf ears if they havent been raised that way (an ongoing awareness that "you is black..and this here is what it's meant for 400 years).

by a woman, in a club who falsely assumed I was there for that kind of thing

my body language didnt reject it and I didnt verbalize "no", so Im sure her recollection would be different

social media has made it easy to keep up with people, but it isnt worth confronting her over this

I have a sense of how it damaged me and affected my behavior patterns since, but I've never shared this in therapy, on here, or with my wife even

I guess this triggered things I try to repress http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=4&topic_id=13310195&mesg_id=13310195&page=#13311182
