"Real voter fraud in NC"

and the GOP and it’s fanboys are silent as fuck. This is only a portion of it because it’s long as hell but this dude Dowless pretty much snitched I’m himself by claiming Dem fraud and telling them his exact method of doing it for the GOP.

Charlotte news did a special on it last night and let’s just say these are some rural, chain smoking, slow talking, country folk. Shit was embarassing. Black folk trust white people way too much.

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/12/bladen-county-election-fraud-and-north-carolina-voter-id/577393/

There’s Finally a Persuasive Case of Election Fraud, and Republicans Don’t Care
A congressional race in North Carolina suggests that the likeliest threats to the integrity of elections aren’t the ones that GOP lawmakers are addressing.
DEC 6, 2018

David A. Graham
Staff writer at The Atlantic

North Carolina absentee ballots, in 2008LOGAN WALLACE / AP
One early sign that something about McCrae Dowless wasn’t on the up-and-up came in November 2016.

With the race between North Carolina Republican Governor Pat McCrory and Democrat Roy Cooper down to a razor-thin margin, Republicans filed claims of voter fraud with county boards of election around the state. The GOP was aiming to delegitimize Cooper’s lead and to legitimize years of effort to overhaul voting laws to make them more restrictive, claiming serious fraud.

In Bladen County, in the southeastern part of the state, Dowless, who had won a race for soil and water commissioner, alleged that “literally hundreds of fraudulent ballots” were cast in his race. When he was called before the North Carolina State Board of Elections to discuss his complaint, he was unable to answer specific questions about his allegations. More astonishingly, Dowless at one point deflected a question by invoking his Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination—even though the board was hearing a complaint he himself had filed.

Bob Bauer: Trump’s voter-fraud lies are a betrayal of his oath

It was a portent. Today, Dowless stands accused of orchestrating a sweeping voter-fraud operation in Bladen County—allegedly to benefit a Republican candidate for U.S. House. The state board has refused to certify the results of the race pending an investigation, leaving the final makeup of the 116th Congress in doubt. Meanwhile, in an ironic twist, Republican lawmakers 100 miles north in Raleigh are close to passing a new voter-ID law. After years of searching for proof that voting fraud is rampant in the Old North State, there’s finally a persuasive case—and it’s a kind of fraud the new law is unlikely to stop.

The first public indication that all was not right in Bladen County came two weeks ago, when the North Carolina State Board of Elections decided not to certify the results of the closely watched Ninth Congressional District race, in which Republican Mark Harris defeated Democrat Dan McCready by just 905 votes. (Harris beat the incumbent, Robert Pittenger, a fellow Republican, in the primary.)

NC is a true purple state but the GOP here have made us look so bad. And the fact that no one on the federal level can or will check them is even worse. What good is a judge's ruling if the lawmakers can just ignore it?

Add to that, they actually paid people to round up votes? Despicable.

It’s damn near impossible for the GOP to win elections statewide without fraud and gerrymandering.

Add this to the argument for automatic registration, rights expansion, mandatory early voting, etc.

Go full attack. Messages like-

The GOP is anti-democracy. See: Gerrymandering, WI, and North Carolina. Collusion. Etc.

Love Democracy? Vote Democrat.

etc

Don't get me wrong, this is really shitty- but it gives Dems even more ammo if they are willing to use it.

Is really just someone projecting.

When they’re talking about Hilary and the Obamas and socialists and the media what they’re really saying is that they expect people to behave horribly because that’s what they think everyone does when given the means.

It’s terrifying.

I don't just mean these kinds of shady tricks, or broadly speaking the kind of shenanigans that go on in NC. No, they did a story about these very people, doing these very things, two years ago. The case was forwarded to the US Attorney in NC, who, surprise, apparently shrugged it off.

But despite it literally becoming national news, despite it being openly recommended for federal investigation, these fuckers still went ahead and did it again. I'm thinking Reeq might be right about how widespread this kind of active disenfranchisement might be.

https://www.thisamericanlife.org/606/just-what-i-wanted

It's the third segment. (They call it act 2, but the prologue is pretty much a whole segment.)

like others have said in here already...dems should be fanning out to all major media outlets and hammering republicans on this. screaming about repubs being caught red handed STEALING AN ELECTION! exposing the hypocrisy between their silence on this and their outrage over nonexistent election fraud in florida. and couple this with gop power grabs in multiple states and blatant voter suppression in many more. couple that with the fact that repubs are defending a president who committed campaign finance fraud to steal an election. repubs are at war with democracy itself and dems should be branding that entire party on their foreheads with it.

not only that...but the democrat in this race (dan mccready) was on morning joe yesterday.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnmStTvBckI

nicholas confessore gave him the easiest layup in the world. basically said repubs in nc have constantly pushed for these inane voter restrictions on the basis of imaginary voter fraud...meanwhile one of their candidates is caught with actual election fraud/tampering. then nick asked if that party deserves blame/responsibility over this.

this nigga mccready said NO! he said responsibility lies SOLELY with his opponent for hiring this shady character with a history of this exact same thing.

wtf?!!!!!!!!!!!

no mention of the state party and various repub election officials being alerted to this behavior over several occasions over several YEARS and doing nothing about it. no mention of the party being alerted about it by THE REPUBLICAN INCUMBENT who lost in the most recent primary and doing nothing about it. so corrupt ass nc state repubs were cheating THEIR OWN VOTERS (everyone who voted for the incumbent). no mention of this guy being endorsed by repubs and rotated through several races through several counties for his 'services'...even AFTER being convicted of fraud in the 90s and even being investigated (ongoing) starting as recently as 2016! NO MENTION OF ANY OF THAT!

no mention of nc repubs passing a voter id law that supposedly addresses (nonexistent) voter fraud but would have done NOTHING to stop their exposed method of election fraud!

no mention of nc repubs (once again) trying to change the makeup of the state board of elections to give these same corrupt ass repubs power over all even-year elections (basically all midterms and presidential elections) AFTER theyve been caught conspiring to steal elections!

this shit was a party-wide conspiracy that was basically accepted by these corrupt repubs on some 'if you aint cheating then you aint trying' shit.

but the dem mccready said its not a partisan issue...every american/north carolinian should be whatever whatever...blah blah blah. if ONLY ONE party is doing (and getting away) with this criminal shit then it is...by definition...PARTISAN! call THEM out on it.

dude basically gave repubs an out to paint this 1 single solitary candidate as a rogue actor who the party can just toss overboard and proceed with a new election like that absolves everything.

fuck a new election! you should be talking about new JAIL TIME for everyone who willfully conspired or turned a blind eye.

wtf did you come on the show for if youre just gonna repeat the same banal sanitized commentary on the issue that viewers could have gotten from chuck 'both sides' todd or some other 'neutral' source?

how the fuck can dems (in general) not make an issue about repubs conspiring with a foreign adversary to get assistance from abroad...while stealing elections at home!

you got people out here in these streets fighting FOR YOU. you gotta bring that same fight IN YOU!

this shit is so fucking frustrating fam.

Like some elections are basically "the perfect winning situation" cause they find an opponent who's willing to work hard to take a dive just for the campaign money & some clout.

Just like how there was an old "This American Life" episode about how Texas had so many Republicans running in every type of election from city council to Governor that when a democrat ran they would get almost all the urban vote but depending on the demographics they (dems) would always loose but in big urban areas the democrat would win regardless if 20 republicans were running verses two democrats, so a trend in the 90's was people who ran as republican started to switch sides to win seats in various areas even though less than five or ten years ago they ran as a republican.

I feel the same situation is happening where those who aren't really for the democrat issues but just there to take the seat and get on other republicans good side.

After the election in November, Harris led Democratic candidate Dan McCready by 905 votes. The state board of elections has refused to certify the results as it investigates allegations that an operative working for a firm hired by Harris illegally collected absentee ballots.

The investigation and ensuing legal battle have left the results of last year's House race uncertain, with no official winner from the November election. The judge's decision on Tuesday will keep the situation unresolved while the matter continues to be reviewed.

Attorneys for Harris asked the court to order executive director Kim Strach of the now-dissolved North Carolina Board of Elections to certify the election results while the investigation continues. Harris and state Republicans have argued that there is no evidence of enough disputed ballots to change the outcome of the election.
Judge Paul Ridgeway said during his ruling Tuesday that certification was not appropriate because the elections board has no obligation to certify an election before resolving a legal protest.

"Why are we looking at a dramatic intervention of one branch of government into another branch of government?" the judge said during Tuesday's hearing.

The bipartisan board dissolved in December 2018 without certifying the results. The remaining board staff are still investigating the absentee ballot fraud allegations. A new board is expected to be appointed by Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper on or after January 31, per state law. The board is expected to either certify the results or call for a new election after holding an evidentiary hearing.
Ridgeway said that new board will be in the best position to conclude the investigation and decide the outcome of the race.

"We look forward to providing a full accounting of what transpired once a Board is seated," said Strach, the state board's executive director. "Public confidence in our elections system demands it."
Harris did not appear in court Tuesday and is being treated by doctors for an infection, according to his team.
