Someone in the post about this in The Lesson nailed it too by saying you can have all the technical ability in the world but if you lack feel, flow, rhythm ... which he lost a long time ago, it doesn't matter.
And you'd think that "chip on your shoulder" mentality would actually be a positive ... IMO it usually is, results in creating better art because you're never satisfied.

I don't think it's a coincidence that he lost his rhythm right around the same time Dre's music/beats started becoming less funky and more ... abrasive/soulless. They've obviously always been super close personally and professionally and I'd have to imagine Dre's mentorship and influence over Em creates some synchronicity w/the way they approach their art individually.

If that's all off the top, then what's the issue. Em has is own style, swag, and flow. Folks say he's stuck in the past, but if he changed up, folks would criticize him for changing too. Dude killed it on Rap God and folks still criticized, He kills it on other songs but still gets criticized. I enjoyed the acapella joint because it's just one example. It's not like he made an entire 6 track CD of acapella raps. It's ONE video.

It's one thing when you're a skinny kid trying to get heard and you're doing that. In your mid-40's, it just seems weird and sad.
Yeah it's what he was always doing, but maybe in the decades between going multi-platinum the first time you rap about killing your ex and now, you would have learned to do other things. That shock-rap thing has a short lifespan of when it's actually appealing. Tyler's like half Em's age and he already seems to have that figured out. Cause Royce obviously had no creative control over the production or soundscape. It was 2011-era Em rockrap emo trash from a production standpoint, and Eminem yelling, both sadly overshadowing what were otherwise some typically good Royce verses.
