I definitely prefer the smoother AP so the one on 6 Summers definitely stands out. That shit is so fire.
Tracks like Sweet Chick (essentially an update of Girls Girls Girls), though, typify the one thing I don't like about AP... his casual misogyny (in this case... "I got a ____ bitch. I got a ______ bitch) like it ain't 2018

Sonically and thematically, this would have fit like a glove on the second half of the album. Wouldn't have necessarily saved the album, but I don't understand that deletion either.

since it was never on the tracklisting and it's a song he'd been performing since Malibu was released. Fans had been asking for a studio version of that song for 2 years, he gave it to them.

he's on a 2004-2006 Kanye type run where he's delivering his own masterpieces while appearing on everyone else's music

this might be up there with Malibu which was my 2016 album of the year

Q-Tip sounds engergized and new (though he does sound a lot like Eminem rapping).

The dre one was trash.

Knx reminds me of Madlib where he just sits in the lab
and creates 24/7 but doesn't have the self promoting personality
to really throw himself out there like everyone else

Some of his remixes on soundcloud are incredible
This is soo fn stupid

Snoop near Dre gets the best Snoop feature

listening to this was like the audio equivalent scrolling through Instagram when he had the grid going

dope album, more of a car/stereo jam than ear buds

Didn't know he had it in him to sound so fresh.

Snoop was great but he was classic snoop (which is also great because he is easily top 5 goat).

The features were great (except for the dre one) but he didn't need to lean so much on features his last album. Just saying.

Yeah I was thinking the same. This new one felt on first listen a little hollow. I got to the end of the album and felt no way about moving on to some different music. No repeats or replays immediately needed :/

good. The adlibs in Sweet Chick had me cracking up, song is dope too. Agree with most 6 Summers, Anywhere, Cheers are my favorites, but I dig most of if. Is he still talking about Mac in the second verse in Cheers I wonder?

Feels like a step back from everything he released in 2016...

But I hope that my opinion of the album is an unpopular one and he blows up off this...

had limited work on this, correct? Or am I making a gross assumption there?

Have to say after listening to this repeatedly over the weekend I'm a bit disappointed with this. I can't buy this in good faith as I think about half the tracks on this are unplayable trash. The sexual stuff on this feels pretty immature and overly childish compared to this prior albums, which is pretty odd to me. And that last Left to Right track feels right at home with the terrible Jamaican accents from the second season of Luke Cage. What an abysmal way to close out the album.

I will say that I adored the second half of Six Summers and Saviers Road. It's almost a crying shame how much better that second half of Six Summer is better than the remainder of the album. Can the Cali folks in here explain the proper pronunciation for that Saviers Road?

I could be a bit pessimistic with this assumption here, but even if Paak did work with Knxwledge recently, I have to think it won't be a while until it gets released based on the uber uber heavy promotion this album is getting.

was kind of meh for the first few tracks but then it got in a groove. over all pretty good. not sure i would put it as an AOTY contender yet.

favorite tracks:
smile/petty
anywhere
cheers
sweet chick

anywhere is one of my favorite songs this year, sweet chick would of been a classic 20 years ago, it is pretty cringe now but it does go.

i kind of see why bubblin was left off but uhm come on that song is so good, should had been on here.

Like it has the feel and vibe of a lot of work from the MWTC soundtrack. "21 Jumpstreet" comes to mind immediately, "Who Got Some Gangsta Shit ?" too to a lesser extent.

... I think there's a lot to like here.

There are some clunkers tho. Both Dre songs really suck.

I think I mostly agree with this album review from The Ringer. In that it's *good* not *great*, and that I think he flexed his muscles a bit instead of staying in his comfort zones. Which produced mixed results but I also have to respect his willingness to take some risks.

Same here... I love Paak, but this isn’t the album I wanted from him, save for 2-3 songs. Dare I say, looking at his previous work, he didn’t need Dr. Dre to make a dope album.
