I remember this going viral when YouTube wasn't even around yet, just people passing around YouSendIt links (remember that?)
But this was truly an amazing segment. When Cam called Bill O'Reilly out for being mad, it was also the most honest thing anyone has ever said to that vile man. He did not expect the dirt he had on him, doggie. Outside of the Purple Haze release date, there were ZERO lies and that man was probably incredibly high, which honestly is how this should be approached. O'Reilly calling for civility after spouting a bunch of bullshit lies and ignorance was incredibly prescient, too.
Favorite moment? "I have a cologne" is still somehow mine, followed by the seething "pimpin and bitches?" from Cam at the beginning. Just kidding, I had forgotten all about the "that was a good point, Cam/Thank you" exchange until I listened to it right now.

be learned from this?
I swear I don't know of any other person who has better owned a pundit then what Cam did here.
I've been thinking the worst way to argue with right wing folks is to try and engage them on the substance of their argument because they are bullshitting and aren't arguing on good faith.
Obama got in Trump's head not by producing a birth certificate to silence the birther talk but rather by clowning him at the correspondence dinner.
Elizabeth Warren took the L by actually doing the DNA test.
The best way to argue with these types is to not take them seriously and laugh at them.

I was thinking about this after the Liz Warren failure as well. Just don't give in to their bullshit. Shame them instead.

He had zero interest in appealing to the Fox audience or in getting Bill to admit he agreed on his points. Instead he just got him to get really red and mad on TV. Because there's not actually room for an "exchange of ideas" or whatever BS they say these cable news talking head shows are supposed to promote. It's just an egomaniac braying his opinions everywhere for an hour.
Cam didn't know what game O'Reilly was playing and didn't really care. And that's why he killed it.
Also see Jon Stewart when he went on Crossfire and ethered them so badly the show got taken off the air vs every other time he tried to have a civil discussion with a right winger. You only remember one of those.

Those squids wanted to be all playful and joke and laugh and Stewart was there for exactly NONE OF THAT. It was so awkward and so perfect.
Glad you reminded me of that. Gonna have to watch later. The Bush years were so strange and awful.

All that blah blah blah, facts, facts, facts shit doesn’t work.
They operate on some 8th grade bully in the lunch room steez so you have to get on their level and just joke the shit out of their ridiculous ways...
Hell, this is how Trump beat everyone. He just joked the fuck out of them and no one remembered the actual debate talking points.
