"Poll question: Aggrandize, Idolatry, "Emperor has no clothes", etc."
Hey, Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande just broke up.
You know what happened. Pete proposed to Ariana rather quick and then....kept mouthing off about how "love is 'lit'"
That's aggrandizing.
So....let's settle it. Is it obvious that if you "aggrandize" something....anything....."living in NYC would be so cool"....."having a relationship with Ariana Grande would be so 'lit'!!!", etc. you're doomed to an "emperor has no clothes" conclusion because NOTHING can "live up" to your "aggrandized" rose colored glasses delusions?

he was talking about it on his Maron podcast how he has terrible anxiety and borderline personality disorder (also didn't realize his dad was NYFD and was killed on 9/11)
and she's been through some shit in the last couple years, with the terrorist attack at her show, and then Mac's death a few months after their breakup
celeb relationships are doomed enough without all that, but i did get the sense in that SNL bit, he knew he was on the clock

they check all the boxes
excessive pda over the top social media rash decisions, that don't even need to be rushed constantly talking about how in love they are
it's all signs that things were flawed from the beginning. When two people who are desperate to be in love somehow find their way to each other the joint self delusion is too much.
Luckily for me - in my life the delusion has always been one sided. Unluckily, though I've been on both sides.

Both people meet and wait for the other to impress them.
This couple in the OP. Shit felt fake from the jump. Who gets engaged this fast and it works out? Once Miller passed he didn’t have a chance.

It can be a good way to make yourself aim higher. If my missus wasn't such a bad ass, I think I would be content with a lot less and not focused on pushing myself to be bigger and better.
But you have to have the confidence to pull that shit off.
If you are constantly reminded someone that they are out of your league, they will eventually figure out "yeah you are right".
I kinda felt like Peter Davidson saw the writing on the wall and defensively reacted to it by joking alot about it to protect himself. Thereby creating a self-fulling prophecy and help causing the very thing to happen that he was worried about happening.
I have some Comedian friends and they are weirdos because they use humor to address ALL their problems. Sometimes you be like dude stop cracking jokes and just cry.

It's their job to pull us into a fantasy world. Besides, everyone wants to have a quotable nowadays, it gets you more notoriety than being sensible and coherent.
