China is a country where the government completely controls every major industry and micromanages virtually all of it, yet because China’s material wealth undercuts the propaganda that free markets (instead of heavily regulated state-directed economies) are the best working economies, I keep running into people who hilariously claim that China isn’t a socialist country. If that’s you, stop lying to yourself. LOL

I thought it was government mandated redistribution of wealth/resources. I think that does require what you describe (government control of resources) but you can have government control of resources that isn't socialism but just plain authoritarianism.
