But there's a difference between "dating younger woman" and "dating with a significant age gap."

What he's doing isn't illegal. But generally, I think it's a little strange when someone always hangs with chicks that far outside of their own age range.

I work with a bunch of chicks in the "half my age + 7" range. There's no way on god's green earth that I'd want to spend significant time with chicks in that age range. If I was gonna seriously date someone, I'd want it to be someone closer to my own age because people that much younger than me act goofy as hell.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

...without anyone actually stating what is wrong with a legal adult dating another legal adult.

What is the 31yo going to do that's so terrible (and that 20yos don't do)? Start pimping her? Beating her? Sell her into sex slavery? Keep her barefoot & pregnant making sandwiches?

Nobody thinks twice about a 54 year old and a 68 year old being together, and while a couple eyebrows might get raised, nobody's really thinking too much about a 32 year old and a 46 year old.

When you're 18, though? Age differences are a big deal. There's a world of difference between being 18 and 22. Like I could not imagine what I could've had in common with an 18 year old in my early 20's, let alone now.

If you're in your 30's, forget it. There is no reason you need to be around someone whose age begins with a 1. I don't care how "mature for her age" you say she is, it's weird. Not illegal, but people are going to look at you funny for it.

My most recent relationship went two years and we lived together for nearly all of it. I was 27-29 an she was 35-37. For us it was actually more of a benefit most of the time because we had stuff to show each other and be baffled that the other didn't know about all the time, but emotionally and interests wise we were best friends almost immediately (probably owed a lot to me being an utter dweeb in high school and having all the time in the world to dive into the music and films back then that would wind up being relevant in that relationship).

Ultimately it didn't work out, and a decent portion of that was due to me still figuring life out and her starting her first Real Job©™, but that easily could've happened if we were both 25 years old and one of us had got an office job and the other kept on bartending. Over that two years I was almost never aware of her age and neither was she of mine, outside of the moments like "wait, you weren't ALIVE when License to Drive came out?!" or "you...let me get this straight...you have NEVER EVEN HEARD OF City High?!" type moments.
