A lot of people might be taking a trip for the storm, and you don't want to get stuck on a highway somewhere. Seal the house up as tight as you can as well. Do the windows have shutters? If so, close them, as well as all storm windows. If you don't have shutters you can try the tape on the inside/outside of the windows thing. Turn off all non-essential electrical devices. Bring in anything from outside that might blow away. Have a basement? Move all of your valuables up to a higher floor in case it floods. Clean out the fridge and all trash if you don't expect to be back for more than a few days so you don't come back to bugs.

This storm looks strong and is headed straight for central NC (right now, at least). If it hits, at a minimum there will be a lot of water and a lot of trees will blow over. Especially the ones with restricted root space (like those next to roads).

yea shyt bout to get real

most of my family in the hampton Roads area and im more scared than they r

they think its goin to be a typical hurricane but this shyt different

i think norfolk going to get it the worst

as far as VA

it always floods

and they already been getting a lot of rain this summer so the ground is already saturated

add 20 inches of rain to that and its gonna be nasty

SC/NC/VA peeps: Y'all need to go and get your supplies now.

Y'all got a generator? Thinking about picking one of these up for the winter myself.

Also, I always wonder how people that don't cook manage when shit gets real outside. They still running to the Chinese takeout or the fried chicken spot every time they get hungry with roads washed out?

For cooking, I have a smoker and a lower deck it’s probably late for this but I have a small generator I got off Amazon that’s powered and charged from a wall socket.

Main worry for Philly in storms are potential power outages, trees getting blown over and spot flooding (I have to put everything up high in my basement )

I have no way to cook without power tho... my stove is electric. If the power goes out I'd want to start cooking the food in the freezer before it spoils.

I’ve seen one too many people cook directly over the coals
Even on my little smoker I try not to do that and mainly use it as a mini fire pit.

Some of those same areas will be hit again.

New Bern is not looking good at all.

We tried to visit them a week or two after Matthew hit...went through Goldsboro/Kinston because of the sinkhole on I-40. Could not get to them because a lot of backroads were flooded. And Matthew wasn’t nearly as big as Flo. Can’t front like I’m not scared that they may not have a house to go home to.

my sister lives right by the St. Johns River in Jacksonville. Irma destroyed her condo. The water broke down the outside wall of the building (she was in a corner unit), flowed inside and basically moved the entire joint around. It pushed the refrigerator through the kitchen wall...she found it in the hallway. Just crazy shit.

I was actually watching dude, as a lot of folk were, live...that morning. The storm was obviously bad, but he's gotta be selling it some, right. I didn't happen to be watching when the folks walked by, though. He got bodied on social media. Even some actual weather people went at him. The Weather Channel's explanation was some shit.

Roads are still blocked to Southport.

The coast got hit hard.

They live a quarter mile inland from this: https://youtu.be/oOppc9okVJQ

Both their houses are good tho.
