I bought a Keurig, this weekend. The compact joint. Used it for the first time, yesterday. Also copped the little reusable basket that let's you use your own coffee, as I had some left that I wanted to finish off. It tasted different than it did from my old-school coffee maker...even though it was the exact same coffee. Wasn't bad...just different. I'm sure I will get used to it.

at my old gig the boss bought us a nescafe capsule machine... the coffee was horrible... I assume Kurig has it figured out better than that... we have one of those push button espresso jobs you put the beans and water in push a button and away you go... almost as easy as those capsules.. quality is on point becomes all about the bean from there.

I switched to black coffee and now I can tell all kinds of differences in how my coffee tastes - if the temperature isn't right, how evenly it's ground, large batch vs small batches, etc.

No, I was not that person and I take offense to any allegations of hard drug use.

What's wrong with hoping someone doesn't OD on sugar to the extent that diabetes develops?

Slightly more versatile than a Keurig, but not as much variety (but more than enough for her tastes). Bought her first machine for an early anniversary, and it lasted almost 9 years of daily use (she believes in a few cups a day, and has the lack of height to prove it). The most recent one has rocked on for close to 3 with no issues.

Since I don't drink the stuff it's perfect for her to get her fix quickly and easily. She does have an old school drip maker (which she uses when she wants a specific coffee the Tassimo doesn't have) and a french press (which I'll use to make her coffee, but she has no time to fuss with).

I'd be using a stovetop esspresso maker if I had too... regular coffee just doesn't fill the void that lingers deep within me.

At home, it's the Chemex with some local roast (usually Compass, or I'll splurge and order from D'Amico's in Brooklyn).

Or cups and cups of Bustelo from the espresso maker.

I'm a self proclaimed tea drinker who digs the French press action.
Besides being better tasting, I really enjoy the process of making coffee with the press.

I do want to try an aeropress though. But right now kind of out of space for more gadgets. When we redo the kitchen we plan on putting a little coffee bar in. when that happens I will have a bit more room for coffee gadgets and gizmos. Probably an espresso maker too.

French press is great because you can control the strength just by adjusting the steep time. You can get a super strong brew if you wait a while.
