I mean the initial draw when this first launch was interaction with Quest. Then the community was super dope and that became the draw. But this place can't compete with Twitter and Reddit or even Instagram. Like its not even close.
And then on top of that, many of us have built our own tribes online and else where to monitize them, so its kind of like whats the point.

Once again we have a post about how the boards are dead and dying, instead of a post containing whatever seems to be missing on the boards, in order to generate the sort of bygone interest said post laments.

I'm sure I'll get banned for a few weeks for saying this too. but these joker were cherry picking rules, making up rules as they go and being totally rude to those who didn't ignore them or glad hand them about the dumb stuff. And if you say something to them they'd freeze your login for weeks at a time. They banned all the good crazy people and then all the other cool folks started to leave for FB. No it's just regular and plane here. Any signs of thinking different is quickly killed off.
But it wasn't the Mods, so let me stop over exaggerating the point. I still blame them for about 40% of the death of this place. The other 60% can be broken down this way - of the 60% the women were 30 % of the conversation. When they left we were stuck with 20% Hard Legs.

whether it's doing big things, or dealing with family. a lot of people don't have time to be on here like that, or just grew tired of this place... and as traffic decreases, the less people will check in. it kind of becomes self-fulfilling
while the over-policing might be a factor, i think it's a small factor. i always preferred to watch posts play out. even if it's offensive or assholish, let the op take their lumps, let the drama play out, etc.. Even people i don't/didn't like. I just avoid them all together. But mods also have to deal with people inboxing them about who or what they're offended by, or rule violations, and they gotta address it somehow. it's pretty thankless. i wouldn't want to do it.
i dunno. i don't know how to *not* come here but i give it 2 years maybe until its over over.

I've seen boards legit die and this board is in much better shape than those types of boards. It's just way smaller than the Good Old Days. We basically turned into a 'Playery version of The Coli, which is fine. In fact, our traffic is probably comparable to theirs, and they seem to be doing ok.
