I'm going to Hawaii for two days in about four weeks. First day is Honolulu, and second day will be in Maui. For Honolulu, I'm planning on taking surfing lessons and surfing, plus a helicopter ride, and climbing three peaks. Probably won't have too much more time, but feel free to offer any other ideas. I do need ideas for what to do at night in honolulu. Best bars? Also, I have plenty of ideas for food, but would love to hear from people who have been (no spam or pork).
As for Maui, I haven't planned too much yet other than surfing and eating. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

it was like a long strip of stores and restaurants that went 2 or 3 miles. Everything from the Hard Rock Cafe to the Apple Store and Cheesecake Factory
Depending on where you're flying from the jetlag might be a lot, it's 6 hours behind the East Coast and 3 hours behind the west coast. So we were passing out by 8 or 9 PM and waking up at 5 AM the whole time we were there

yea it was kinda wack for me that honolulu looked like third street promenade in Santa Monica...
I'd like to get to North shore next time though

they are famous for their food trucks, but expect to wait a reallly long time if you want some shrimp from Don's. There are a lot of food trucks around Waikiki though, if you dont have the time for North Shore. I fucks with Kens Kitchen hard. Great food and great prices; and a nice way to rub shoulders with the locals. Food by the way is expensive in Hawaii. Regular grocery stores are out of control. Costco however is priced as if it were on the mainland.
to be honest, it sounds like you don't even have enough time to do the cool shit you already have planned for Honolulu. But if you are looking for something to do at night, then book a sunset cruise (if you are with other people that is). And spring for the steamed crab if you like seafood at all lol. And expect a shit ton of Asian tourists and locals...like a lot, a lot. White people are not the majority here. And although everything is paradise level beautiful, the history of colonialism is right under the surface of everything.
The art museum there is also really nice. And they host late night parties once a month or so. They had a Kara Walker exhibit when I went last year. One of the daughters of the guy Duke University is named after converted her house into a museum on Middle Eastern fine art, but they have strange hours. Also, this might sound lame but I went to the neighborhood Obama grew up around (which actually is full of really nice beaches and the Lankai pillbox hike) and that was dope. This is all Honolulu by the way. Cant speak on Maui.

1. Da Kitchen. Right by the airport. Dope Loco Moco.
2. For a NICE (and fairly expensive dinner): Mama's Fish House.
3. If you're going to spend time in Kapalua, I recommend Sansei Seafood House & Sushi Bar. Good eats.
4. Nicer dinner near Kapalua is at the Plantation house.
I'll also say that Maui is generally regarded as the "couples" island. Don't know if you're rolling dolo or not, but it's the island that's the popular honeymoon spot.

Oahu/Honolulu:
- Leonard's Bakery for malasadas and baked goods - For a pleasant, casual sit-down seafood lunch/dinner, Nico's @ Pier 38. - for a nice, high end, sit-down, asian-pacific fusion dinner.. The Original Roy's is always good. - if you make it out to the north shore, you gotta go to Giovanni's Shrimp Truck, but that's kinda outta the way if you are there for only one day. - as far as breakfast/plate lunch spots, take your pic, there are so many

North Shore-ish: Giovanni's Shrimp Truck Papa Ole's Pulehu ribs Paalaa Kai Bakery's snow puffies
Hawaiian: Helena's Hawaiian Food (I'm biased, its current location is less than a mile from where I grew up; there should be YouTube footage of Andrew Zimmern and Action Bronson eating there)
City Square Shopping Center (Kalihi) Young's Fish Market (Hawaiian) Kamehameha Bakery (poi dounuts, poi malasadas) Sugoi Bento & Catering (typical Asian-Hawaiian-local casual plate lunch/bento)
Ramen: Bario Ramen in Waikiki Yokocho Gourmet Alley at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center Agu Ramen (Ward, Isenberg, Pearlridge, or Kapolei; not Kalihi) Goma Tei (Ward, Ala Moana, Pearlridge, Kahala Mall)
Guava Smoked (Kalihi) - smoked meats. My favorite place to eat and I forgot to mention it earlier smh. There's a new parking lot across it. Parking was a nightmare before that.
When you get to the shop, Ask for Orron. He's the only black dude on staff and manages that spot.
Tell him that DVS told you to touch down with him to find out what's good in the area. He'll probably say "Oh word, Mike P sent you?" That means my name good money out here in these streets holla at ya boy.
Anyway....He'll set you straight. Send me a DM a few days in advance and I'll make sure he looks for you.

Here a few spots, but I’ll try to up some more later:
Food:
Kehei side: Mama’s Fish House: (beautiful views at lunch time and sunset) it’s kinda pricey but totally worth it
The Mill House: beautiful view of the mountains and an overall great dining experience
Maui Brewing Co: do the tour and stay for some food after.
Lahaina side : Nagasako : Local Plates from a mom and pop shop If you want a local vibe and good food
808 Grindz: another local place with good breakfast
Monkey pod: great happy hour and late night Happy Hour. Must have Mai Tai spot
Julia’s. Banana Bread: this is on the road to the Olivevine Pools. Best banana bread on the Island and it’s just little road side set up.
Lenoda’s Pie Shop and Bakery: stop by for great baked goods and pie. They have a nice breakfast and the general store next door has some yummy Musubi
Sites:
Road to Hana: you gotta drive the road to Hana, the views are breathtaking. It’s an all day trip but worth it make sure to stop at the Black Sand Beach and any of the many waterfalls on the ride.
Maui Breeing Co: cheap breeery tour from an incredible brewery. Beers are amazing and they even make a delicious root beer.
Olivevine Pools: these are amazing tide pools off the side of a cliff. A bit of a hike to get down too and you have to be very careful getting to the pool furthest out. Many a tourist has been swept out to sea there. Totally worth it tho.
Coffee tours: a few on the island , we did the Maui Coffee Co. which as really fun and got to sample some really good coffee.
Beaches: nuff said
I’ll add more later but I’m sure others will mention a lot of the same stuff
