He won't be in the credits but I'm sure he's on the phone and will find a chance or two to check out an edit and give notes. The director, Steven Caple, Jr., is maybe 30 years old and directing his second feature following an acclaimed indie debut. You know he has the hunger and Coogler's definitely the type of dude to see himself in Caple and offer a helping hand if he wants it.
From the trailer, it seems like at the very least he watched Creed pretty obsessively and isn't trying to reinvent its visual style.

I just hope the boxing is better. THe first one the boxing sequences looked very rehearsed. Like they were going through a routine they worked on hitting pads. I know I shouldnt criticize this Rocky movie out of all Rocky movies for boxing. But it bugs me every time I watch it.
