George made one REALLY big move to start his own label "Uncle Jam Records"

but....

Most people say Zapp doing something "wrong" by taking a record paid for by one record company and bringing it to another record company was the start of the downfall of what George was doing businesswise.

I'm not saying George was smart about doing all of that stuff with different record companies (did Prince keep the Time, Sheila E and all of his folks with Warner Bros.? Or did Rick James keep the Mary Jane Girls, etc. with Motown?) but a lot of people say Zapp doing what Zapp did is why George's plans - esp. for Uncle Jam Records - fell apart.
