in the trash. More like, I boxed it all up an sat it out by the trash can for the trash man. I'm sure that he went home happy. I still regret it to this day. I went overboard because some of those CD's were classics. Yet, I really don't miss the actual CD's. LOL
>to listen to? Where does content and language fit in?
I do listen to a variety of music, but 90% of what I consume is either Gospel of Christina Music. I may dabble in some Holy Hip Hop every know and then. As for regular rap, I do allow myself to listen to some music but I try to keep it on the Art and Lyrical side. I can't listen to random cussing just for the sake of it or nonsense just for the beats. I'm a poet and I use to perform too, so I love lyrical wordplay and meaningful content. so for me, there has to a point to the song even if it's purely fictional. The song has to have significant meaning, content and the thought. The song has to be going somewhere, then I can see pass the filler profanity. But if it's on some straight B, this, hoe, this, suck my D, Blah, Blah, Blah, I can’t fool with it.
I sue to be on that No rap at all tip, but few of my favorite preachers were dropping rap references from artist and I has to excuse my naivety about the standard that I has set. I was missing out on the lyrical commentary about our social, political, and community struggles. So, I started back listening and hearing the streets talk about what’s going on even in the songs of rappers like Kanye and Pusha T. man I need to stay plugged in but not become what’s being plugged in to my ears.
