because it's not happening to a Black person. I don't know if you remember that Black woman that was beaten savagely on the side of the freeway by the CHP a while back. That shit hurt to watch.
Lemme go find a link right quick...but I can tell you off the rip that shit was FUN-NAY.

she's in the wrong, and she's also in the wrong for spitting at, or even worse, on the police.
The police officer punching her in the head is clearly wrong from the clip I saw on TV since it appeared she was already restrained at the time and the punches were excessive.
I have little faith the police officer punching her in the head will face any disciplinary actions though.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Here's where I write this ebullient Tanehisi-assed lengthy paragraph about how I cant hear her protesting because it's drowned out by the wailing voices of those who've lost loved ones at the hands of the police 'for not doing anything'.
And that's saying a lot.
There was a time where I would've felt that 'shouldn't no dude be beating up on a chick like that, especially not no cop beating up a teenage yt girl.' I mean it really is a hard watch - I still have some humanity left.
But I just don't think THEY really empathize with what it's like to deal with THEM in a system THEY created - no offense.

She's white so expect ramifications like that police commissioner in Minnesota resigning followed by the cop that killed the woman going to jail without a word from bluelivesmatter.
I've seen too much black death over dumb shit to feel sorry about a cop punching a white person in the face.

Hmmm...what did she do? They’re treating her like she’s black. She must’ve done something, right? Oh, that’s not how we react to police violence stuff when the assaultee isn’t black? Hmmmm....

Unless she had a weapon, or was about to harm someone else, then it was uncalled for.
In most situations involving male perps, it is also uncalled for, except in the case of very large/strong or drugged-up *AGGRESSIVE* men that pose serious threats to multiple officer without weapons.

If she indeed said “you can’t treat me like a nigger” that’s just... ionno.
So strange yet so typical

which would translate loosely to 'bad attitude.' Very classist knee-jerk reaction from me.
Which is not wrong (her attitude stank), but no one deserves to get beaten up over such a non-issue. Or really any issue short of causing another person grievous bodily injury.
The cops were pretty chill to start but she obviously got the cop's goat, how fast he turned heel. Numerous ways to de-escalate that situation and each party ignored all of them. The cop could have suggested they put the beer in the cooler since apparently having it visible was part of the problem, or take it up to the car, or poured it out, and leave it at that. She could have given her last name. Or just shut up. If not for the tude she probably wouldn't even have gotten written up. The cop could have said alright, we'll be back in a few minutes to check on your aunt and given them a chance to get out of there. Cops coulda just sat on their scooter and waited if it was that big a deal.
Film is good in a way because it shows skeptical people that hey, maybe there is something to this police overaggressiveness thing! And bad because it will further erode trust in officers' ability to weigh the significance of a situation appropriately in determining whether an arrest or use of force may be an appropriate response to a minor violation. But that in itself might be good in the long run to increase the push to change police behavior.
