I'm not thinking about theft or robbery when a woman grips her pocketbook like Marshall Faulk when she sees me. SHE IS. And she's projecting that onto my via her body language (non verbals).
With that said, it's pretty easy (for me, at least) to read whether someone is receptive to interaction or not. If I get a "creep" feeling then that's a clear sign to KIM and not offer any assistance in that situation, because my assistance is not welcome.
I was mostly joking with my reply up above, but I do think that reading the situation is important, and it's also fair to acknowledge that some people just are not receptive to any help, and you actually may offend them by offering.

You can still offer a women help and not come across as creepy. It's not like you asking for her number while you're doing it or commenting on how she look in her jeans and shit.
I help folks out with stuff all the time, and expect nothing in return and I always get a thank you. Never been an issue. Don't let a few folks you might see on here or other sites make you think this is something you shouldn't do because it makes you a creep. The average person appreciates it as long as you don't do creep shit while trying to be nice.
