but first I need to buy a ticket.

I had a dream I had 2 wives. my wife’s best friend was the other wife and I was contemplating having sex with her. She ain’t even attractive to me so I’m my dream I was like.. “hmm, nah, I’ll pass”

Which made me think back to the few times I passed on sex and how shocked and hurt those women were. Dudes hear no all the time and roll with it but when men say no? Real tears and hurt feelings.

I've done this a few times in college when me and my girl were on
one of our many break ups. I've even done this mid stroke and the
reaction is always the same.

I was surprised at their reaction because I had been turned down
a bunch of times and didn't really think it would affect them the same.
But I guess what surprised me the most as a 19/20 yo was the
realization that I didnt NEED to have sex just because I could.
I didn't know at the time that I could have that much restraint.

I've been given a project, but I'm not doing the work.

I'm going to get the credit though.

All parties involved know. We have meetings for nothing.

This is how people get ahead here. I've languished in the 'slow track' for the last 15 years.

My manager is black. She gave my white co-worker/friend (who ranks higher than me and is waaaaaay more knowledgeable) an assignment, which basically amounted to HIM working for ME.

This is some reverse-racism shit. White people's WHOLE EXISTENCE here has been like this.

And I'm so fucking 'conditioned' I don't know how to receive my 'blessing' (??????)

This shit is against my personal code. But I need a raise...and some more money...and my Black supervisor and Black manager are basically running the playbook.

I want the bread and all that's gonna come my way.

I want my 5-Series to turn into a 7-Series.
I want to splurge on my wife during our trip to Paris and Corsica.
I want to ball the fugg out when I take the family to Cabo.
I want to invest even more than I currently do.

So, it ain't no issues for me. I'm gonna thank the Lord for the blessing. I'm gonna follow the assignments that have come my way. And I won't complain because I recognize that not everyone is blessed with the opportunity to have someone sponsor them and put them in the positions to attain the things they may desire.

Edit: This quote is found in my original response.

to have it drilled into your head that you should succedd on your own merits, whatever they may be.

But this is a place where that'll never happen.

I'm most DEFINITELY gonna take advantage of this $hit.

one too many times. And so now that's over.

We're still cool, because I'm stopping it now before anything can *really* happen.
I doubt she'll ever even really know why I just fell back though.

All these surface-level friendships bore me, but I suppose it's better that way.

Every politician is a "crook" or a "puppet"
Every minister is a "fraud"
Getting educated is somehow "assimilating"

nobody wants to put faith in anything anymore. We don't vote, we don't go to school, we don't believe in anything. We just chase money.

We don't believe in anything but bullshit, so naturally anything shiny and loud gets our attention.

Current events and public perception & commentary are giving them that title.
The outrage & praise over their actions by the collective masses is essentially giving them that title.

I don't expect anything from entertainers but entertainment. It's pretty clear that others expect more and put more weight on where entertainers rank and exactly how much relevance they hold in the grand scheme of things.

I've pretty much checked out on all of it. Nobody is doing anything to change anything. Most of our boycotts, rallies, and protests are unfocused.

It's a joke. It's like we spend more time attacking each other for our personal beliefs than we do trying to make some actual change.

Some of the same people clowning others about not giving up the NFL are the same ones blogging from Starbucks.

NFL revenue is down
The Selma bus boycotts lasted a little over a year and that was a local situation.
The Greensboro sit ins lasted almost five months and that was at a single counter.
What kind of substantial changes are you expecting in short time frames from multi billion dollar corporations with global footprints?

It could be argued that 45'ers and their bullshit boycott affected it too.

That was in the 60's.

We're on the same page here. That's why I thought the NFL boycott was short-sighted. You can't boycott the NFL but still use companies that are corporate partners. It's not that simple.

What I'm saying is, I'm sick of the "wokeness" getting in the way of people coming together. You can't even have a conversation without getting attacked by somebody who shares a different world view. The whole "if you watch the NFL, then we can't be friends" shit. Some of my friends are sportswriters, league employees, and former pro athletes. They have affiliations with the league that feed their families and keep other Black people employed. It's not as simple as "turn it off". Some of my friends are franchisees of (((insert company we're boycotting))). Where does that leave them?

I don't even drink Starbucks. I hate coffee, but they're at least meeting us halfway and adressing the situation. That's a bigger effort than most.

I'm rambling, but yeah. I just try to navigate all this shit out here, and I really don't have the patience to argue with people about who's "Blacker" than who.

articulate. Maybe

It just doesn't help that dude is one of the least articulate cats out there and takes pride on not being able to read.

But there is an annoying group think that happens on twitter that is annoying and there should be some dialouge about pushing back against it constructively.

Administrative Professionals...
Teachers.....
etc..

Those are JOBS....
Careers!
You get PAID to do your JOB... your PAY is your "appreciation"
Your gainful employment is your "appreciation"

All these emails about activities for these appreciation weeks = more time & MONEY I gotta spend to show my "appreciation" for things i'm already paying for directly and indirectly....

I swear...I just want to "log off" of the Month of April & May....

and "boss appreciation day" is just basically a day for kiss asses to suck up to the boss. At my last job, they wanted to pitch in to buy our boss a painting. A PAINTING. Fuck that shit.

I never spend my money on a token gift for somebody who makes more than me. Office birthdays, retirement lunch, "last day" lunch? Sure. But paying tribute to a motherfucker just because he has a corner office? Nah.

we had potluck on Tuesday for Admin Professionals Day.

I swear these folks go overboard for the Admin Officer here.
Her dog was put to sleep - they bought her a card and flowers
bday - card and flowers
admin professional day - potluck
she had surgery - a card and flowers

all this damn shit and there's a brother in the office that had bone marrow cancer. He was having a surgery and thought he'd be gone for only 2 weeks and didn't come back til about 8 months later. Dude lost his hair, lost about 100 pounds, came in using a walker, colostomy bag. He looked like he aged 10 years. all that and no one even thought to send him a card. FUCK THESE PEOPLE

It's been a really challenging year. I'm up for the challenge but I'm
a bit weary already.

Career has been good & steady, everything else, I just don't know.

My expansion received some setbacks, but nothing I haven't been able
to work thru relatively fast.

Transportation problems have been a manageable nightmare. But finally
finally seeing some light at the end of that tunnel.

Like I said career good, I got a festival gig I'd been gunning for for
almost 2 years. Only major highlight but working for more.

The landlord was supposed to sell the building I've been so blessed to
live in these past 7 years, and that got delayed to give me just the
time I needed. So that was good.

Best friend is considering moving here. That'd be cool.

When u find out someone u really cared about, didn't give a damn.
Unbelievable.

I think I'm closing the chapter on LDR's for good. So much time wasted.

And when u can't really be mad at no one but yourself.

Very deflating feeling overall. The things that were said that made me
wanna be there. What my overactive imagination made me overlook.
Wise words not heeded. Live & learn.

I had really high hopes that humanity would become more wise in how we
deal and respond and healthy skepticism when it comes to media. But
we're in the same hamster wheel. Media says jump "how high?" etc.

RIP Uncle Buster. We didn't get to kick it much, but the little time
we did really stands out. I'm sorry your experience in this world made
u not wanna be here (thru neglecting health). I live it up for people
like u and Roosevelt. Thank you for the memories.
