"Kanye likes the way alt right Black conservative Candice Owens thinks"

smh

https://www.thewrap.com/kanye-west-black-lives-candace-owens/

Kanye West voiced his liking of conservative YouTube personality Candace Owens on Saturday, upsetting many of his fans.

Owens — a frequent guest on Fox News and InfoWars — launched a website and YouTube channel in 2017 called Red Pill Black, which promotes black conservatism. She has hailed President Trump as not “just the leader of the free world, but the savior of it as well,” and has been known to blast Black Lives Matter.

West tweeted Saturday: “I like how Candace Owen thinks.”

Upon seeing West’s endorsement, Owens quickly responded: “I’m freaking out. @kanyewest ….please take a meeting with me. I tell every single person that everything that I have been inspired to do, was written in your music. I am my own biggest fan, because you made it okay. I need you to help wake up the black community.”

West giving his nod of approval to Owens didn’t sit well with many of his 11 million followers.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

id be interested to know what he reads/watches nowadays to even know who candace owens is.

no doubt these tweets will be brought up on bill maher next week and bill will agree with the whole freedom of speech/thought thread. like 90% of his show now is him complaining about the biggest threat we face as a nation...free speech being stifled by protests, boycotts, and whiny college kids.

It's baffling how one can go from the infamous Bush comments to aligning with Trump and the far right.

Maybe his mother was the only one who could keep him balanced and after her passing, Caitlin Jenner and company took over.

Maybe this is a middle finger to Obama after Obama dissed him and called him a jackass. Got his feelings hurt and now on anti-Obama everything. Kinda like Trump after he was dissed at the correspondents dinner some years back.

Maybe a mixture of both but who knows.

He moves in the same circles as Jay, Beyonce, etc. and still feels the far right has people's best interest. And what is so crazy is that despite all of this, he will not lose any fans...especially if he brings that heat. We are in bizarro world where the biggest Black rapper is for Trump and the biggest white rapper (Eminem) spoke out against him.

I wonder which other rappers are secretly Republican and have yet to speak out. Just waiting to see how this Yeezy shit goes before coming officially out. I can see a lot of trap/drill artists doing this.

>RE: pretty much. idk why folks are up in arms about it.

If he knows better and is just saying that type of shit for attention like you claim, IMO it's even worse than if he was just plain stupid and actually believes the shit he is saying/tweeting. America is like 80% stupid people. And there are stupid fans of Kanye's who will follow his every word and action so if he claims he likes the way Candace Owens thinks, others will follow. He's got a lot of influence.

So he's either lying for attention and is therefore wildly negligent and irresponsible, or he's telling the truth and is therefore really fucking stupid and got Kardashian'd.

Neither instance is ideal. Both should be maligned at every turn.

He could hit the space bar and tweet it and he'd get attention. So he doesn't need to resort to that type of bullshit.

I think he believes what he's saying which, sadly, makes him incredibly stupid.

This doesn’t mean he doesn’t say stupid shit because he is stupid.

kanye's just an extreme example of a trap we all fall into at times.

that doesn't excuse any of this bullshit, but there's no duality or unresolvable conflict in kanye's story at all. what's scary is that being self-aware to the point where you can narrate it seems to make it easy to capitalize on your issues, and maybe avoid them, but not so easy to overcome them.

he was straight up with all of this 15 years ago.

some genius is going to do a tony soprano/saul goodman style biopic on kanye in a generation and blow us away though.

hear me out, I'm about to rant for a minute.

DG said he figured out the matrix and this season of ATL has been kinda off IMO. Folks saying a lot of these episodes are genius but IMO I think dude is real close to losing his good will if he keeps going in this direction with the show.

Which brings me to Kanye. When folks like Ye make shit tons of money doing whatever they want it makes them feel invincible. Ye sold out MSG to play his unfinished album while showcasing his matrix clothing.

Now this dude is propping up the red pill alt right chick.

When you win at life following your dreams and passions and then see thousands/millions of people following your every move and responding to every tweet or rant.. man listen.

No one man should have all that power.

That dude is on one and until he really loses he is going to keep doing what he is doing whether its right or wrong. As long as it gets reported on, dude is going to feel like he is right/winning.

I been hearing these black conservatives talking about the "democratic plantation" but nothing they say seems to be of any value to black people. They look at black america through the lens of white disgust and hatred....I can't get past 20 seconds of these negors talking

Whether it's black capitalism/buy black or the Steve Harvey/Iyanla Vanzant self-help stuff, black people are down with a lot of conservative principles. They just don't fall for the white supremacy of Republican Party

The Fox News black conservatives all seem to have the same origin story of "the mean black kids made fun of me for talking white in middle school."

however, I've wondered if there are any conservative principles that would make sense to me

Buy Black/support black business for sure, but is that really considered conservative?

I can't even begin to hear any points because the loudest parts are dog whistles screaming in my ears.

At this point it seems like the only black person who is nearing conservatism in a way that could make sense if I lost my mind would be Killer Mike and even then...I ain't on board.

If you take the Buy Black/Black capitalism argument to its logical extreme, you end up arguing that black people can entrepreneur their way out of racism like other ethnic groups have done. A lot of the black socialists I know would argue that this leaves the basic logic of capitalism unchallenged and discounts how deeply anti-black racism is connected to capitalism.

>I can't even begin to hear any points because the loudest
>parts are dog whistles screaming in my ears.

I mean, Farrakhan organized the largest gathering of black people in American history around the idea of atoning for our bad behavior and promising to embrace traditional gender roles and be the heads of our families.

There was a point a few years back when every other black person was reading that Steve Harvey book.

I disagree with both of them but I see folks buying into it on the timeline so I don't want to discount the fact that those sorts of messages resonate with people.

>At this point it seems like the only black person who is

haha Mike's political philosophy is all over the place.

con·serv·a·tive
kənˈsərvədiv

adjective
1.
holding to traditional attitudes and values and cautious about change or innovation, typically in relation to politics or religion.

noun
1.
a person who is averse to change and holds to traditional values and attitudes, typically in relation to politics.

So when you say this...

>Am I crazy but there is a big sense that the only way to be
>down with conservatism as a person of color/black man is be
>down with white supremacy or have white supremacy do some
>shaping of your world view

... that makes complete sense, because white supremacy shapes America's "traditional attitudes and values" and that's what a conservative is "conserving"... no matter what they look like.

>I been hearing these black conservatives talking about the
>"democratic plantation" but nothing they say seems to be of
>any value to black people. They look at black america through
>the lens of white disgust and hatred....I can't get past 20
>seconds of these negors talking

I look at that "democratic plantation" as the same old white supremacist tactic of flipping everything around. You say they're racist, they say you're racist. You say they're killing us, they scream "white genocide." They want to harm you, they accuse you of trying to harm them (i.e. stop resisting!). They want to bring back the plantation, they accuse you of wanting to bring it back.
This is good for confusing simple minds who won't study and analyze history and present data.

As for looking at Black America through the lens of white disgust and hatred, there's no other way for a *conservative* to look at Black America.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ exactly this. "Traditional attitudes and values" = racist attitudes and values. America was born racist, and remains so. If you claim conservative, you are claiming racism. Agree with all you said below as well.

...of course it's going to be hard to envision what black conservatives are thinking.

The ones I've encountered tend be religious. Or skeptical of government. Or super pro black (i.e. everything should be done within the black community without the help of outsiders)

Note that I am talking about conservatives. Not Trump supporters. Or Ted Cruz voters. Conservatives.

There is nothing inherently white supremacist about conservative philosophy. Some use it as a platform to push white supremacy. But that does not make the ideas of conservatism supremacist.

Falling back on that argument is just a way to delegitimize with little effort. No different than the guy whose only line is liberals are commies.

There is a tribe of people in this country that describe themselves as conservatives and though this group has origins in conservative political philosophy, it's not really a political philosophy that binds them together. It's the identity. It's the tribe. It's the White Supremacy some would say. I find black people that identify with this group to be hustlers and shysters trying to make money or get some fame or are dealing with some self-hate.

Then there are those people who adhere to conservative ideals like famly, church, self-reliance, strong military, national identity (proud to be an American!). There are black people like this who use to call themselves conservatives that aren't terrible people. People like Colin Powell. JC Watts. My boy from college. These folks aren't that visible anymore. My boy doesn't even talk politics anymore (or rather only focus on super local politics). If we are talking this sort of conservative though, A lot of black religious leaders (including Farrahkahn) are conservatives though they don't necessarily identify as such.

but aren't streams counted in the sales? the paid services? not the youtubes.

I'm ignorant here.

edit...free services are included too.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2016/02/13/now-that-streaming-can-make-a-song-platinum-what-counts-and-what-doesnt/#9e5fe6b17ef9

Recently, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) changed the methodology by which albums are certified gold and platinum. As of this month, streams are now being included, which modernizes the entire process. Sales of singles and albums decline every year, while the streaming industry is booming. Since the way that the masses consume music has changed, so should the way the industry recognizes success.

It might sound pretty straightforward, but there are a few important details to note in order to fully understand how an album will “go gold” from now on.

HOLLYWOOD, CA - MARCH 29: Singer Scotty McCreery (L) receives a Platinum Record from mentor Jimmy Iovine (C) and host Ryan Seacrest onstage at FOX's "American Idol" Season 11 Top 9 to 8 Live Elimination Show on March 29, 2012 in Hollywood, California. (Photo by Frank Micelotta/Invsion/AP)

How Many Streams Does It Take?

In the new structure, 150 streams of a song equals one paid download, and ten paid downloads equates to an album download. So, an artist’s music will have to be streamed on any of the approved, included services 1,500 times for an album “sale” to be counted.

If, say, 1,500 people play Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space”, that will count as one sale of her album 1989. The RIAA is still going to be specific about which songs are featured on what records, so artists will continue to see certain albums being awarded.

Which Services Are Included?

There are actually several dozen services that will be a part of this new methodology, and there are also many different types of services. The RIAA will now be accepting plays from video platforms (like YouTube), as well as on-demand sites (such as Spotify and the like). The list of services included in this new certification system is far too long to list, but it includes popular options such as Beatport, Amazon Prime Music, Deezer, and so on. It does not include radio services like Pandora and iHeartRadio, as those platforms do not allow people to choose whatever song they want whenever they want.

The list also includes some odd sites and apps, such as Hulu, Flipagram, as well as well-visited stores like Target TGT +0.9%, Kmart, and Walmart. These might not be the first places where one would go to buy or play music, but songs and albums have a place on all of these platforms, so they count towards the total consumption of an artist’s music.

Where Are These Streams Coming From?

Different services operate in different countries, depending on a number of factors. Some companies can’t get the licenses necessary to work in other territories, while some simply haven’t gotten around to expanding globally yet. Having said that, only those streams consumed within the United States count towards an album being certified, so not every YouTube view or Spotify play is included.

A handful of titles have already benefitted from this new structure, and in the coming months there are many more albums that will be certified, despite their not having actually sold a certain amount of copies.

Y'all buy those labels, I was born supreme

It basically takes your avg loser at home who feels they are being denied their birthright; they see themselves as smart so why shouldn’t they have the girl, the car and the job they want? Alt-right comes over, gives em a bunch of virtual pamphlets against group think, deep state conspiracies, etc.

For a group that’s big on “by your bootstraps” mentality their message is the opposite; “THEY are the ones holding you back and by being able to see through it not only are you not a sheep, you’re SPECIAL”.

Of course Kanye who suffers from acute small man/wee wee syndrome his whole life (Big Brother, “You Ain’t Got The Answers Sway!?!”) would fall for such nonsense. Despite having a career second to Beyonce, lol.

It’s just dumb. And the thing is at his level of superstardom Kanye literally has nothing to lose but still here we are. While Michael Jackson’s struggles with white acceptance played out with his physical looks, pretty much everyone who interacted with him off the record attested he was a regular ass black dude. It’s just disheartening at this point in time in history where the basic lines of morality/right and wrong as as black and white as they can get, he goes to that side because according to what Ebro said in their phone call “Trump met me, and Obama didn’t”.

Disgusting.

no point in going back and forth just to constantly correct someone who had no real prior interest in the subject aside from shooting down the commentary of others. now ima just start asking yall niggas if you need links lol.

thats what being mentioned/cosigned by a pop culture fixture like ye does. it extended her reach/interest into the eyes and ears of a large segment of society who had no idea who she was before (the google search trend isnt just alt right users...theyre already familiar...it shot up 100x because *other* people are seeking info). not saying she is magnetizing susceptible people into alt right converts left and right. but more people are now looking into that window.

doesnt matter if she is the primary, secondary, or tertiary focus of the news coverage. she has gotten an exponentially greater amount of promo in mainstream outlets the last few days
https://www.google.com/search?q=candace+owens&tbm=nws

not to mention ye is 'redpilling' his twitter feed with literal alt right talking points (wittingly or unwittingly).

ye used to expose people to relatively obscure intellectuals, artists, designers, etc. now he is illuminating alt right figures like candace owens and scott adams.

most of 'us' prolly dont spend a lot of time in the fox news/breitbart/4 chan information sphere to grasp whats going on and how dangerous it could potentially be.

I mean you can look at the adidas stock price pre and post Yeezy and that pretty much sums up ya questions. Yeah, this is a room of cynical old niggas so of course we don't give a fuck about the latest fashions, but you've got plenty of niggas that have a career strictly based off a Kanye co-sign.

Just because we are used to corny ass Kanye trying to make a woman's LV backpack 'pop' doesn't mean that he's not on a whole other echelon of cool to the rest of the world. People buy tickets to his shows NOT to see that nigga live, but just a chance to buy merch. Kanye even with horrible lyrics about bleached assholes modern Kanye has commoditized cool in a way I don't think any artist has. Like people went to the Pablo tour not to see that nigga perform but for a CHANCE to buy his ugly ass merch.

Kanye's perfect ally because of it. It's why Richard Spencer and Milo got put on so quickly; unlike their middle aged counterparts they have youth on their side.

There's a reason why you got Bill O'Reilly, Jordan Peterson, Alex Jones, etc...all hopping on his dick just like any bottle waitress, ipad beat producer, or aspiring streetwear designer.

The same pipelines/messageboard that helped mold ya Dylan Roof's are in a tissy because 'one of them' is telling the 'truth'. Its a god awful look all around.

While we clock it up as another Kanye-ism in a long line of bullshit, lets not downplay the bigger implications here.

there are actual functional/closeted racists operating in mainstream circles that stay away from the alt right because they dont wanna be stained/tarnished by the association.

and kanye just comes along like 'nah these folks are cool. theyre just free thinkers' lol.

dude basically just gave them the donald trump 'nice people too' voucher in a more subtle but impactful way. because you cant call ye racist since hes black (which is why the right likes black attack dogs like candace owens). and while trump was redundantly signaling to people like himself/them, kanye is helping to normalize them to a much larger and unaware/unsuspecting audience.

>The same pipelines/messageboard that helped mold ya Dylan

this is what a lot of people dont get. its part of broader/complex radicalization pathway.

like that quebec mosque shooter who killed 6 muslims. they looked at his social media interactions and its heavily dominated by alt right, fox news, infowars, breitbart, and ben shapiro (like an alt right 80s easy listening station lol).
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DbLFbhMU0AAlIzj.jpg

these folks arent telling their followers to go out and kill muslims. but the constant vitriol, gaslighting, dehumanizing, and fear mongering leads to inciting someone to act violently towards people they are convinced are existential threats to their life and culture.

and now ye is basically cold calling and soft selling their propaganda to fresh potential leads like an introductory box set.

You said (paraphrasing) "Kanye did more to mainstream the alt right than anyone"

Lurkmode, legs, et al, are harping on that hyperbolic statement because it is ludicrous. Kanye may not be helping, but he absolutely did *not* do more to mainstream the alt right than anyone else. That's an insane statement.

But instead of correcting or explaining that statement, your responses keep referencing this specific instance of Kanye mentioning, and as a result mainstreaming, Candace Owens. One specific, anecdotal instance of mainstreaming an alt right figure.

Your original statement should have been "Kanye did more to mainstream Candace Owens than anyone"

Kanye did *not* mainstream the alt right. If you correct that statement, I think maybe, perhaps, this brutal back and forth may cease. Which will be a positive for everyone.

>if the people/outlets you mentioned played more of a part in
>mainstreaming the alt right...then why did so many people not
>know who candance owens is until ye mentioned her?

i can see why some would trip up on the specification/delineation. i think its important to be precise as possible too.

but is the delineation even necessary/substantive?

if someone cosigns and expands the platform for an antivaxxer, are they not doing the same for the anti-vaccination movement?

not just mainstream news outlets.

mainstream at large.

in a few days he has already taken the alt right from pundit/chatter class debates to casual kitchen table conversation.

how often was the alt right being talked about on tmz, breakfast club, hot 97, black twitter, ig model feeds, etc?

... ad nauseum since 2015. Kanye West is not fucking responsible for that.

Charlottesville and the Nazi heroes who emerged in the aftermath, were covered on all the puff sites you speak of and in mainstream media endlessly all last summer/fall. Kanye fucking West is not responsible for that.

He is responsible for the rise in interest in this particular woman, in this particular situation. And has been responsible for other one-off instances as well, both alt-right related and everything else related. He's a pop phenomenon.

But holy shit he IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINSTREAMING THE ALT RIGHT MOVEMENT. THAT IS HYPERBOLIC AND LUDICROUS AND IRRESPONSIBLE TO SAY. I think Kanye is a loser and his recent statements about 45* and Owens are irresponsible at best, and harmful to his own community at ... second best. And he's done this before. But to say that KANYE WEST IS RESPONSIBLE for the alt-right's mainstream popularity is lunacy and you need to not double and triple down on it.

but IMO that's EXACTLY what they do.

They know they could say the right shit and do the right shit and get a round of applause but that doesn't cut through all the chatter.

Say some dumb shit or date a ball player and have him cheat on you and OH NOES!!! SHIT IS REAL. THEY CRAZY AND NEED HELP

then they sit back and laugh at everyone running around arguing over how real or fake it is

but I also think this is a great view into the Dem vs GOP. Dems love to push climate change and college while the GOP screams fake news and damn near every time the GOP wins the messaging debate because they keep shit simple.. and dumb.

Americans don't like their entertainers smart and well rounded.

WE DO but America likes/needs to feel like "even though I'm living check to check at least I ain't dumb and shallow like Ye and Kim"

They have some of the bigger alt right names on there from time to time.

Tucker Carlson basically has an alt-right show. 70% of his show is scaring folks about demographic changes. He was defending Milo Yiannopoulos just last night

An alt right blogger got a 60 Minutes feature. They are all up in the mainstream already

fox news gets like 2-3 mil viewers at peak primetime. something like big bang theory gets almost 20 mil.

ye brought it closer to that big bang crowd. like the alt right is being covered on mediatakeout, perez hilton, tmz, e!, etc. because of a few tweets.

im not saying ye brought the alt right out of complete obscurity. just that he could have potentially pushed it into the consciousness of a much larger swath of people that hadnt previously been exposed to it.

If Kanye tweets about some obscure artist, that person isn't all of sudden mainstream. That person becomes mainstream only when she is widely played.

That's why folks are saying he's not mainstreaming the alt-right. He is way late to the party. It's been mainstream. The fact that alt-right is common terminology illustrates that.

He brought this particular lady's name to the attention of some new people. But him just mentioning a name doesn't make the ideology or movement normalized.

It is mainstreamed when it is talked about widely and openly. It isn't taboo to talk about alt-right ideas anymore. It's been mainstream for a couple of years.

In response to Reply # 133

(though they generally occur together)
and both dont necessarily depend on occurring among the *entire* majority or even a plurality. and there is fluidity and different degrees to each as well.

i think people are viewing mainstreaming/normalization as some tangible absolute barrier thats crossed instead of a spectrum.

like once you hit the mainstream border theres no more maintstreaming to travel to lol.

an example stringing all of the above together...

after a bunch of rule changes, lobbying, informational/educational efforts, dana white helped normalize mma to a general sports audience around early 2000s (it wasnt just seen as human cockfighting anymore). it took a while longer to normalize among larger society, family households, etc.

concurrently...

it started getting mainstreamed like around the bonnar/griffin tuf 1 fight, tito/liddell prime, in the mid 2000s.

it got further mainstreamed to a new level with gsp.

it got further mainstreamed to a new level when brock lesnar came.

then it got further mainstreamed to a new level with rousey/mcgregor.

even still...the large majority of sports fans watch nfl, nba and baseball. mma is relatively still small-scale (the entire ufc sold for the price of just the dallas cowboys alone).

so even tho the alt right might have been at tito/liddell or even gsp...kanye could potentially take it to brock. maybe someone else comes along and takes it to rousey/mcgregor.

doesnt mean the majority are active participants or agree with it.
doesnt even mean the majority is acutely knowledgeable or in tune with it. just means someone amplified its reach and helped it climb atop another successive plateau. something that was done before and could be done after.

make sense?

Kanye's giving them a shortcut to appeal to authority "because Kanye said so"

or "Kanye tweeted this"

"Good enough for Kanye, why not you?"

Cause Kanye needs external validation.

and these folks are using Kanye as their frame of reference.

So yeah.

Damage done on the folks waffling back and forth and who obstinately "don't understand why everything is about race."

i think she was his tether and when she was gone

plenty of Black dudes date/marry non Black and don't end up like OJ.

but I definitely agree that surrounding yourself with that type of energy can lead to unhealthy things.

a friend of mine in LA recently said the one thing he hates about LA is the lack of Blackness in the industry.

he said "you can sell Blackness all day but they don't really want you to live it"

unintentional symbolism/parallel.

maybe ye really followed stacy dash (metaphorically speaking lol)

on serious note...leaving the psychological/criminal angle to the side...there are some pretty direct resemblances between the two in terms of race, stardom, social mobility, self-identity, etc. its a pretty similar trajectory.

Kanye's view of the world and movement within it lines up perfectly with Trump.

His relationships are transactional and his loyalties are to what and whoever cosigns his "genius" or his aesthetic sensibility. (shouts to double0 who put it this way above) To his credit, he has often been proven right when capitalizing on a certain movement or moment. Sounds like Trump. The ultimate salesmen. I mean, he joined the family that has mastered this concept.

In music, he has always found a way to latch onto something that was of the moment, even when that moment was about "backpack rap" and soul samples, so a lot of us that prefer that kind of stuff lifted him up in the beginning. But in the end, he has no loyalty to a sound or to a culture.

Even his production and rhymes are mostly someone else's ideas coopted and flipped to fit the Kanye brand. Just as Trump gained notoriety by stamping his name on other people's projects, Kanye, present day Kanye anyway, is largely in the business of success by proxy. Give me your talent, I will give you my brand.

Nas by Kanye and Cudi by Kanye, if they ever see the light of day, will only further serve that brand.

To sum it all up, Kanye West does not care about Black people.
Until they are the target market.

This dude will never cease to be fascinating to me.
But yea, that's some dumb shit...

none of this is surprising

messy people do messed up things

why be surprised by that?

only reason would be because you fell for it earlier (i recall the dancing in the streets after the "buch don't like Black people" bit) and thought he wouldn't flip on you (like he has on LITERALLY everyone else)

c'mon now

and yes, rappers loved Trump because he was all glammed up, you don't see those rappers on Trumps nutz in 2016 like in the 80's and 90's.

Trump was a Democrat too...
Or at least openly donated to them when he knew it would serve his interests to.
I think like most things it's a little from column A, a little from column B.
Kanye has definitely ALWAYS had that ambitious, I wanna be rich and trendy mindset.
Then he became rich and became the trendsetter. And the trends that he is deciding to set are deeply problematic.
Those cosigning him right now firmly believe in the exultation of self over anything else.
He jumps on that kind of stuff thinking it defines him as a "free thinker", untethered to any ideology or trend, because he is the ideology. He is the trend. I am a god.
And Jay was definitely on some of that with the "do what thou wilt" shirts and all that.
But yea, both of them have always been capitalists over anything else. They serve whatever serves them.
New slaves.

I disagree, this is not the same Kanye. I don't know how you can come up on Brand Nubian and biting rhymes from X-Clan (when he was doing grammar school talent shows), passionately speak on the plight of Black people during Katrina, and then end up on the side that is known for being against Black people.

People say Kanye is not political but yet he mentions running for president in 2020 (possibly along Kid Rock...lol), takes a meeting with current president, and vocally supports him.

Rappers liked Trump in the 90's because he was rich and a playboy, not his political views (especially when he went after the Central Park 5). If he would've aligned himself with the Klan back then the way he does now, it would have been way different.

So I often find it strange when someone identifies as "socially progressive, fiscally conservative." I don't think you can be both, no matter how bad you want to be.

I hardly think someone who's simply sick of paying over half their income in taxes would identify, fully, as "fiscally conservative".

I mean I get what you're saying but I think there's a huge difference between a wealthy person thinking taxes are bullshit, and identifying as a Republican/fiscal conservative. The latter comes with a LOT more implications.

In other words there are plenty of wealthy Democrats/left wingers who'd prefer not to pay 50%+ in taxes, too.

No one is going to really object to lower taxes across the board, holding everything else equal.

But you can't cut taxes without paying for it......
http://www.midwestsportsfans.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/mj-laughing.gif

Traditionally republicans will fight to cut spending to pay for tax cuts. The spending cuts would largely come from entitlements (welfare, SS, medicare/medicaid).

Democrats would fight to pay for it with increased taxes on the higher incomes (to pay for middle income tax cuts)

But this time around Republicans said forgot the old playbook. They won't even whisper about spending cuts of any kind

... by lying about spending cuts. They *want* to subsequently cut spending on SS, Medicare, welfare, etc ... they just lied about those intentions in the tax bill and pursued that stuff after it passed, and buried it in the tax bill.

>Some of his is true but if Trump and Kanye were the ultimate

Well, a big part of being the ultimate salesman is having the ultimate product.
And to be clear, I'm not saying Kanye IS Trump, but I see how they would recognize aligned interests and tactics in each other.
The brand has been and will always be success. Shock is a possible marketing ploy. Sometimes the marketing is centered around glamour. Sometimes it's centered around grievance and comeuppance.
They both use them as devices to get what they want and seize opportunities to sell themselves as the arbiters of success.
But Trump is definitely a different, more dangerous beast.

Trump is playing around with centuries of racial grievance on the world political stage and inciting animus in the populace.
Kanye alludes to racism to get a spot in fashion week.

In this case he cosigned something that makes himself fit to be exploited and appropriated by the former.

>So he takes advantage of something already there.
>

Yep. Like a good salesman recognizing a market opportunity.

Yea, there is definitely some hyperbole and conjecture in some of that.
Even in what I'm saying.
But I see the connections and I can understand the response to his recklessness.

first. I am not a stan for Kanye...

however, my life experiences reminds me that its good to hear someone out before I form an opinion. With this in mind, anything outside of his exact words "technically" are rumors...assumptions. Regardless of "what it looks like". My replies were with regards to his statement about loving Trump.

"What did he mean by it."
"Why did he say that"

to my knowledge, he hasn't addressed that. I'm not bent out of shape if he does in fact love him.

you ain't gotta like what I said just know ain't shit naive about my opinion. I'm not sitting around angry about what some other nigga said. He doesn't speak for me and I don't buy his shit.

These aren't rumors. You are "waiting to hear what he has to say"...it is literally happening right now.

He's saying it. There is nothing to wait on.

Check the timeline, check the interview, etc.

That's why I wonder if you have really been following the situation. I don't mean it as snark. You legit don't seem to understand that there is nothing to clear up.

You seem to think it is rumors and hearsay. It is right out of his mouth.

Clown is out here really saying he loves Trump, wearing a MAGA hat, etc. There is nothing for him to clear up.

He is showing it to you now.

Folks are reacting to what he has said, and continues to say.

Honestly you saying "I'm going to wait until the album to hear how he addresses this" is not only weird and naïve, but literally reminds me of "he won't be like this once he wins the nomination" or "he won't be like this when he is President"

He's literally telling you who he is right now.

What you do with that, is on you of course. But you can't keep pretending this isn't him.

Now why he hates his own blackness is another question.

Why on earth should he consider how his ignorance
can do harm....

When the response is ‘I just hope the album lit’

SMH

Not to mention, this cornball hasn’t made a decent
album in 7 years.

If we could all agree to just mute this clown everyone
would be better off.

Looks like Cyhi is on that shit too. I guess if you
ghost write for someone enough you start to
share their damaged, unoriginal brain?

Fuck ye. Let’s all move on.

How about we celebrate the artists he steals from
instead?

Unfortunately, his words and actions have influence.

No album is going to change Ye’s character and ignorance.

No hot beats are going to make us forget.

Not to mention, he’s been trash anyway.

But we shouldn’t shrug off nonsense cuz someone
drops a dope album anyway.

Expect more.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DbgV6e2V4AAHkil.jpg

incel is some goofy mens rights shit. basically women are victimizing men by making them involuntarily celibate. not technically alt right but overlaps a lot of with the alt right. a lot of the misogyny and racism are tied to the same white male entitlement complex. same/similar crowd on 4chan and reddit. white loser cross-pollination lol.

they got the incel shit directly off his facebook postings. wouldnt be surprised to see more of a direct alt right influence the more they dig.

but this is the type of crowd that ye could be potentially funneling more people into. redpillers, incel, mgtow, etc.

larger problem. young males are being radicalized in these online cesspools. but because they arent from a certain ethnicity, religion or ideology, they arent being treated as a radical/extremist network.

le/intel agencies need to be combing 4chan/gab/discord to monitor/infiltrate this shit like they do with muslims, black lives matter, etc.

you seem to be under the impression you already gotta be alt right to be attracted to the alt right lol.

like a lot of mild mannered, socially awkward/disconnected, prom-skipper, youtube surfer, gamer types get funneled into that shit. i posted about how steven bannon and milo intentionally targeted these type of people.

not everyone started out as a raging racist or even politically/socially polarized.

ye is telling people someone is cool. some people get curious and go check out this cool new person theyve been introduced to. some are gonna be intrigued and develop a connection. then they follow others who are similar. then they start frequenting the same boards, apps, social spaces and adapting the same outlook/ideology. and so on.

that google trend link i posted in here shows large clusters of new searchers searching for candace owens...then her youtube...then red pill blue pill...etc. some of those folks are gonna stick around.

im not sure why thats a difficult concept for you to understand.

1 nonprofit im working with is doing some predictive behavior study shit. basically figuring out signs that indicate someone is likely/susceptible to being radicalized. and maybe figuring out signs to the signs.

but ive literally watched some of the people we track on social media 'transform' in real-time over the course of months or a few years (beginning before we started actively tracking). its wild.

like this one chick started out a super liberal stoner/rager type. working in a dispensary, partying, getting drugged up, etc.
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/458317725345914880

was no fan of republicans:
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/699653809673359361

big obama fan (both of them):
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/753702003423911937
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/758104056543875072

even loved bill clinton lol:
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/601081043261661184
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/601081438180483072

eventually made her way around to being a bernie fan:
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/716421898318385153
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/733111080151474177

because of course hillary clinton was cold, crazy, corrupt, etc.
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/722608812620795904
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/742007398752083969

then of course the hillary-donald similar evils equivalency:
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/779004999598616577

and some nice clinton conspiracy/fake news she started falling for online:
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/768292578353487872

eventually got into folks like jordan peterson:
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/882350003410182144

and ben shapiro:
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/902562021442334720

and then before you know it:
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/963113618425356289
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/963115502468919296
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/950742569167695872
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/959168575662518272
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/988185130870059008

complete left to right transition in less than 2 years.

of course she loves the candace owens shout out from ye:
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/987702652812210176

and loves candaces response:
https://twitter.com/lilmsragerr/status/987702810555777025

salute to kanye redpilling the normies:
https://twitter.com/Malek_Broham/status/987706897645162496

you see how easy it was for this chick to completely switch course and start getting into that crowd just off casual interest/interaction.

now imagine someone as influential as ye just putting people right at that doorstep.

even this chick realizes the potential:

Like even if he’s hanging out in 4chan, incel is a small ass blip in that crazy ass party.

The whole thing is those scum have been fighting to be ‘legit’ because they know that’s how they get people. Its why they get mad when twitter blocks em, reddit eventually gets off their butts and bans their subreddits, etc.

Are they gonna get 99.99% of the people that walk down that rabbit hole? NOPE. Most gonna be like, ‘Ehh, these dudes is crazy’ click close on the browser and go about their merry day even if they harbor some of those feelings.

But you find the right one and boom. It’s just internet advertising…everyone is basically a trained ninja at closing them popups in 2018. However you just hope that one comes along that’s willing to play along.

Kanye giving em free advertising is the problem *shrug*

I put this in the same bucket as Badu saying that she saw something "good in Hitler." Or Kyrie Iriving saying that he believes the world is flat. Like taking the contrary position makes you more enlightened than others.

I'd say 99% of the time it's just saying wild shit to get attention. Like if you have a new album coming. Just like Ebro said.

and people would still consider him a free thinker, one who challenges the status quo, and a genius. Being the hot artist of the day would excuse his alignment with those that suppress and murder thousands of innocent people.

The alt right suppresses free thought(party over country), gave us 'alternative' facts, and justifies the murder of innocent people. And these are the people Kanye is aligned with.

It's great how the few that speak up to object are haters, limited, and don't see the big picture.

Don't care if he is trying to sell albums or not, he crossed the line to dangerous grounds, possibly to the point of no return. He could resurrect and executive produce X-Clan, Brand Nubian, and Poor Righteous Teachers and it still wouldn't be enough.

Didnt unfollow.

In the past few days hes normalized trump and
all that entails to his fanbase- who are probably
relatively young and white.

So now not only do their parents want to MAGA, etc/
now their favorite ‘rapper’ does

Not to mentioned getting shouted out by Alex Jones,
Oreilly, etc.

Using the term ‘thought police’< << we know the
type to ise that term these days.

And his employees acting reckless too. Double O
in here trying to convince us he’s not doing damage.

Cyhi literally tring to argue that slavery was a positive
thing.

And chance equating being pro-trump as simply being
pro-republican and/or only democrats are anti trump.

Now, there are obvious self-hate and straight up
stupidity issues at play...

But unfortunately, these clowns have lot of peoples
ears.

Ye and his disciples communicating that its ok to
be racist, anti-muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBQT,
Be a pussy grabber etc...AND be uninformed?

Look, Ye has clearly wanted to be embraced by
wealthy white people for some time. But the last few
days have been something else- and i dont think
we should downplay his potential influence.

Again, 18 million people or whatever still following
him.

To a certain group, he probably had normalized this
more than anyone.

How is he "normalizing Trump if his followers are going down ? That number should be increasing.

Shania Twain has to back-peddle after saying she would have backed Trump if she had been eligible to vote but Kanye is the Pied piper for the tiki torch crowd ?

What's hard about getting props from the tinfoil hat leadership after tweeting Trump shout outs. How is that normalizing the alt-right ?

Do these clowns have more ears than Trump or the Republican party ? Will the people who listen to the clowns you mentioned act on what they hear or will they retweet and do nothing ? Does Kanye and the clowns you mentioned have more eyes than the mainstream media ?

Influence to do what ? What will we see next another unite the clowns rally that is bigger because Kanye and his enablers are supporting ? You really believe the suburban soccer mom is going to join the lonely cowards with tiki torches to help spread the message of fight back against the white genocide ?

Going full right wing is a great career move for anyone remotely famous that hasn't had a hit in a while, they'll always give you a spot in God's Not Dead: You Can't Kill Me I Was Born Dead or whatever.

every. single. album. on the lead up he makes a lot of noise and we go "this dumb motherfucker...HES DONE"

then the album drops and you get around to listening to it and you think "hell nawl...well, alright, this track is ok I guess...next track is pretty good...alright, I like where this is going...THIS IS MY SHIT. THIS ALBUM IS EVERYTHING."

I mean, less so with TLOP but I find this at least for me has been the case for every album after the first one

He hasn't had a Black album since 'Late Registration'. He's had dope albums, but nothing that hits home to Blackness.

It's just gonna be some okay shit but the groupthink will say genius.

People let their hate of Yeezus cloud what he was spitting

Id argue it was the most overtly political hit mainstream rap album until Pimp Butterfly hit the scene in years

Black Skinhead was.......eh. The rest of that shit was incomplete thoughts and ego. Kendrick Lamar's TPAB was much Blacker without even trying.

In response to Reply # 274

but it definitely had a Black punk rock feel to it

and while I didn’t think it had good beats when I went to the concert (mostly cause Kendrick opened for him) it made sense. That shit was a stadium album. Sounded much better in an arena than in a car.

ah man, y’all gotta give Ye his props when he does right.

I ain’t say it was better than TPAB; it’s clearly not. Not better than Damn!, not better than KOD, hell not better than Vince Staples Summertime ’06, …etc.

But thats not the point.

You can hate the beats, hate his shenanigans at the time, but there were moments that were unquestionably ‘black’ more so than the rest of his discography which was your original comment. You aren’t gonna find a platinum record release with bars this militant even in his ‘woke’ discography. It aint as good/witty/well written as Cube/PE etc when they were huge...but its as ‘fuck you america’ militant

My mama was raised in the era when

Doin' clothes, you woulda thought I had help
But they wasn't satisfied unless I picked the cotton myself
You see it's broke nigga racism
That's that "Don't touch anything in the store"
And it's rich nigga racism
That's that "Come in, please buy more"
"What you want, a Bentley? Fur coat? A diamond chain?
All you blacks want all the same things"

289. "^^^ The mentally ill thing is complete bullshit"
In response to Reply # 287

First, plenty of mentally ill people don't do the shit he does. Plenty of bipolar/mentally ill people who don't hate Black and Jewish people, mentally abuse their spouse/kids, etc.

Second, he has access to more resources than 99.99% of anyone alive. There is absolutely no reason for him not to take care of himself.

Third, these outbursts are absolutely correlated with when he desires attention due to a release or whatever. He is not out of control. He is clearly in control...he's just a terrible person by any measure possible. This latest shit is after he was *rightfully* called out by a BLACK WOMAN for his White Lives Matter horseshit stunt.

He can't take any kind of criticism....even lightweight. He is actually a lot like Trump when you think about it...which makes me judge his apologists even more.

What is bonkers to me...this place has written off plenty of people for far far less...Kweli...Ms Hill...two that come to mind that honestly probably could be chalked up to mental health most likely. Both seem like very anxious people to me personally. Regardless...neither has done anything close to what Kanye has and yet?

I like those first 3 albums as much as most...it sucks. But he clearly isn't that person anymore...maybe he never was.

I can't even listen to his old shit. How can you take shit like Crack Music seriously at this point? Same reason I can't listen to Killer Mike....you can't spit that revolution shit then cry next to the mayor talking about "wait, not here...not my property"...FOH Shit clearly was not sincere for Mike...it wasn't sincere for Kanye.

Both were playing a persona to sell records.

Either way...even if you can't let go of his early shit...there is no reason to go on defending him. Zero reason at this point. He's a terrible person and he makes over-produced, yet half-assed music at this point.

Not to mention?

Lets be real.

He's dumb as fuck. Like a stupid ass straight up. Just dumb as shit.

Deathcon?

Afraid of books?

So so so so much great rap music out there...no reason to not move on from this dumb motherfucker.

Fuck Kanye and anyone who goes on defending him.

Either I don't really know how bad untreated bipolar disorder can get or some other mental health stuff is going on. I swear hes a month away from speaking coherently

(that sounded so weird to type out lol).

but hes basically your average right wing kook stuck in an alt right online echo chamber now.

it doesnt seem like hes involved in a lot of physically risky shit that puts himself in danger...drugs, criminal behavior, street beef, etc.

dude will basically be the black version of ted nugent, mypillow guy, etc doing/saying a bunch of increasingly weird shit...especially as his need to make money outside of mainstream avenues gets likelier and likelier.

...50s and 60s. He'll be in almost complete denial about his fall from grace. He'll get into metaphysics. He'll shill quack home remedies for cancer. He'll probably do fewer shows than Gallagher, but when he does, it will be to a very dedicated, very vocal fanbase.
