I like Trayon White and think that he has explained his perspective well. Southeast DC is the punching bag for every other DC ward so white people can make themselves feel better. No one else is in the trenches.

I can honestly say outside of the big cities, many people have no idea what it means to be jewish. I think shows like The Goldbergs are good because they normalize Jewish American identity.
Many people think all jews are rich, all Isrealis are hate filled. I really had to leave my small town to learn about jewish faith, identity and the Diaspora representation.

How the media portrays it or categorizes it is largely not my concern. They are not of me nor am I often their intended target audience. He gave them a layup. Could've just shut his mouth for an hour, said I came away with a new understanding and faded into national obscurity and went back to work on his local focus. I truly believe that this man has lived in his Black American urban plight bubble. I had a white media/communications college professor who had never heard of Paul Laurence Dunbar. How many white politicians who know nothing about black history. They just know we were slaves. They don't know the intricacies. They make outlandish claims and no one questions thier intellect. They just say the are racists.
I didn't know any Jewish people until college. I didn't even learn about the holocaust in depth until 9th grade. I attended an all white high school.
I do think he is not liberal elite educated. But I think he has other areas that will make him an asset to his community.

You MIGHT be able to get a little condo or townhouse. You can rent an apartment but you cannot own a home with land in Anacostia without being ready to pay $350k-500k. Every person I know who buys a house east of the river is likely a Caucasian person or a black family from another state. DC natives from SE DC are not financially capable of making home purchases. White approved Political leadership means an easier pathway for gentrification. They say it their damn selves.
