but she def knows how to push my wife's buttons. Not sure what it is about mother daughter relationships but they can get real ugly.
and my MIL and her mother still go at it. It's a cycle.

LAHD!!! My mom is a pistol (always a victim, loves to delegate, needs plenty of attention when she isn't off gallivanting...except she doesn't tell us anything, but we're supposed to know. We're supposed to be her happiness in the wake of my dad passing 12 years ago. We got families and times are trying/busy).
Her dad (Gotta be in charge of everything, He has learned that his bark ain't enough and there people that WILL challenge you, physically. He's the definition of the "loudest cat in the room....")
At one point in time...my mom and her dad beefed. They aiight now, though. By the way, they are good people from both sides (ha), just see life only from their very own self-centered pov.
It takes all kinds to make up a world, son. -My pops

since she was a teen, showed up to our wedding.
the day before, we all (him, me, my eventually wife, his other daughter & her husband) meet at ihop. he and I get there first. I've never met this guy before, so I'm making nice.
somehow, the convo turns to she and I having kids. this foolio says we should name the kid after him. it took all my withholdings not to sock him dead in the eye.
then on the wedding day, he says to me to take care of his daughter. why, cuz you didn't? that's what I wanted to say, but didn't. I kept it light because this day aint about you, mayne.
luckily head pretty much faded into the background cuz I could see us having issues with him and I would've had some words for him. he's never seen my kids.

He was a colonel in the Marines too.
I kinda don’t want to meet him if he is anything like she describes.
My brother in law met him and said he was copping pleas trying to play the victim.

Always supportive. They're glad as hell that I moved out here so I think that keeps them as supportive as possible. Her being away six years got them shooketh.

Both of them stay out of our business for the most part ... but interject with some wisdom when we need it. They got a knack for knowing their places. It's pretty remarkable. My wife and I adore both our parents. We're both lucky.
You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

My child's father and I were not in an exclusive relationship when I got pregnant. I never met his parents until after the baby was born.
I have never been so happy to meet such down to earth and easy going people. Old school black folks who keep it real.
It is crazy because my previous relationship that lasted for 7 years and we were deely in love, his in-laws were the WORST. Racist, passive aggressive white people who wouldn't even ask me how I was doing.
