I'm on the way home from work yesterday and my wife call talkin bout
my sister is on the phone saying that I, ME am locked up. My wife is
calm trying to figure out if I'm okay. I'm like yeah been at work
ran to the side hustle for an hr or two but I'm good.

Then my Pops call and say hes at the courthouse looking for me and
I'm like Yo whats goin on? My Pops said a Public Defender called him
saying I was charged with Manslaughter. This 'Public Defender' said
I was textin while driving smashed the hell outta of the car in front
of me and somebody dead and its all my fault. Then he's like call
Granma

I call my Granma who is the most beautifulest person in the world
and she was relieved to hear I was okay. She said somebody called
pretending to be me and was frantic AF on the line at 10 in the am.
She said that the dude was saying he/I was charged with Manslaughter
cause he/I was texting while driving and smashed another driver
that just happened to be a pregnant woman who went into immediate
labor and lost the baby WTF. He told that he needed 2 stacks
to get out and to put it on his card.

This dusty ass nigga even had some call pretending to be a public
defender vouching for this shit. Man my Granma did it then my
aunt came heard about it and got on the phone started grilling
dude and he hung up.

My Pops was on the phone with the 'Public Defender' at the
courthouse trying to find me for a whole FN hour.

My sister was callin my wife wild disrespectful talking bout you
knew ALLL Day and didn't contact no family.

And this Dirt Bag nigga got my Granma for her money.

i hope theres a way to reverse that payment.

kidnapped. They tried to reach the sister but her phones wasn't answering. I forget the details but the cops weren't interested and him and his boy went to a park to meet the kidnappers arm'd with guns.

Turns out it was a random as call from some people in south america and they make 100s of those calls to see if anyone will immediately wire the money. They didn't even know dude had a sister and it was just pure bad luck they couldn't reach her right away.

the number but for some reason she did.

She told the dude that he didn't sound like me and he said
that his nose was broke and couldn't breath right. Dude had the
quick comeback and made it believable.

I told my Granma to give me the number. I called and started
blankin on him and he just put it on speaker and all his boys
started laughing.

Felt dumb and helpless knowing these dudes is in my area

I worked in the dept. where we reviewed online wire transfers to make sure everything looked legit before we released the funds. I can't tell you how many scams were out there...and that was 17 years ago!! A lot of times I would call the person and they didn't even know the individual they were sending the money to...and would get mad with me when I tried to caution them against it. I remember the biggest one back then was the Canadian Lottery scam. Folks were getting GUTTED.

As HS/College kid were easily the most ratchet/best places to
work. All the girls were there, all the hustles were there,
anything you wanted but didn't have no business wanting was there LOL

But if they are smart, the number's masked and they're not actually calling you from your area.

I got my first call ever from a scammer 2 days ago. It was one of those IRS scams where they said I had a $4K tax bill and needed to pay it...but I already filed my taxes and got my (small) refund.

They got me to call back as I got an automated voicemail talking about there was an issue with my taxes that could lead to fines/criminal charges.

I literally asked 3 questions and they were outwitted. I laughed and they hung up. SMH...reported the number to the IRS for fraud too.
