there was always a running joke about it on the show Rosanne.

I can’t recall my mother making it often
I may have made it once in my lifetime
but it’s on the menu today....

Because I always took it as the ultimate sign of Western decidence. My thought was that in one meal meatloaf not only takes an expensive meat in beef, but uses so much that could easily be enough meat for 3 meals with cheaper carbs (bread, rice, potatoes, etc) as filler.

So I always assumed it was the white picket fence, suburban "we've made it" meal. I'm curious of the depression roots.

...shit was intense. w/ some gravy & bread... I was HOOKED. She taught me how to make it, too (tho hers always came out better).

Called Bugaboo Creek, that had a BBQ meatloaf that was fuckin dope. I've never seen it on any other menu since.
