Ahern had about 2000 yards and 18 TDs in his 38 game career. Gronk had 1327 yards and 17 touchdowns...in 2011. Gronk is one of the most devastating forces the NFL has seen at the position, or almost any position. He's nearly impossible to defend with one man. Ahern was really good in that two TE set they used to run...but he was not in Gronk's galaxy.

and Yeah Gronk is one of the baddest tight ends ever and yet is half hearted alot of the time. Hernandez was a more versatile player
and lets be real the patriots don't hand out 40 million dollar deals to just anyone.

Way better hands, and better blocker. Both are just TE's, they can't play FB/RB, and just because you place a TE at the X sometimes don't make him a wideout.

Gronk can't stay healthy and he wasn't as versatile as Aaron. Gronk is a athletic freak of nature and yet borderline party Boy about it.
