"Modular Synth"

so i'm going down this wormhole

any modular veterans out there. i'm nowhere near building a rack but i've been toying around with vsts and other software and apps for a while.

idk what this post is, i guess i'm just curious if anybody else is into it.

A few months ago I fell down a whole music synthesis fad, reading books, youtube, playing with primitive VST's.

I wanna start building a eurorack myself but that's a LONG term goal cause that's alot of time (and real ass cash) invested. But this will be mine in the very near future

Thats if you don't want to do a full on deep dive in though.

Pittsburgh SV 1 is a nice entry into.gull modular.

myself I'm more of a collector of instruments... I use MIDI and plenty of VST too but I'm a long way from deciding I need a rack of synth modules.

my friend on the other hand is all about it... in groups, always posting up finds, rack status n what not.

...i have nothing else to add but that i'm amazed at how good the analog modeling is on a fucking ipad, it's so rich sounding.

not bad to play around with for $30.

I bitched about not having space to do anything when I had an MPC and 32 channel mixer in my bedroom, but I wish I had the space to build and use stuff from diyre.com. I couldn't fit one of those lunchbox shits anywhere in my current setup.

just so much info to sort through. working on sequencing melodic patches now for sampling and laid some drums over it from my Pocket Operator and it sounded good.

Shit is really rewarding when it works out.

i've sort of moved on, or at least put modular to the side because i had WAAAY more to learn about music before i got into modular, but it totally helped me learn more about FM so i'm more confident about sound design

i now have a Novation Circuit and its probably just gonna be that and a computer for the at least the next year or so.
