"I do not fear getting old..."

I be thinking about how folks are trying to preserve their youth.
not I
I wanna get old....

last night the children stayed over. We have this thing - they must tell me something new they’ve learned since the last time we spoke. last night it was...

Nazis and the eco system

“they” keep me young...

My granddaughter still learning to spell her name. It’s like 7 letters- she got 3 lol
When I try to help, she be like “no help no help”

I see it and it sucks.

If I am old and healthy and not too worried about money and my family is doing alright, I will be fulfilled.

taking care of us shouldn't entail financial burden...right?

Chronological age and biological age dont always have to be connected...

Sometimes "tryna stay young" means remaining as healthy as possible for as long as possible AND/OR not falling for the trap of "old" being set in your ways/cant learn anything new.

You can't do shit about a year going by... but you can make sure you arent hunched over and on all kindsa blood pressure medication or statins that gon fuck your quality of life up.

ok

So a young person lets say chronological age of (30) but eats McDonalds every day drinks 2 gallons of soda daily and errrmm takes ibuprofen every day is going to medically (biologically) look like a 50-60 year old.

But you can be 70 years old eat well (for your body), exercise, not be overweight and look biologically like a 50 year old.

There are specific biological markers of age.. telomere length for instance:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3370421/

The point is to keep the little engine we call a body humming close to optimal for as long as possible.

The other side of the fence is the cognitive side... the minute you set into your ways, refuse to learn new things and just take on this "I'm old.. thats the way it is" idea you miss out on what could continue to be a fruitful life.

recruiting seniors to work the registers as a way for them to keep busy (stay productive) and taking advantage or them being more stable - read: less likely to quit on a whim - than teenagers

so i'm at mcdonalds in the back of the order line and they senior register was moving too slow for the manager's liking

this dude LIT INTO this old guy

i'm thinking: there is NO WAY IN HELL I would let a dude half my age talk to me like that

i've committed that (me subjecting myself to the authority of a power-mad person liable to flex with me as their punching bag) will NEVER happen

Being a senior and NEEDING to be a greeter is sad all around. Nobody wins.

If I'm bored and WANT to stand around and shoot the shit, sure.

Also being a senior and getting checked by someone 30 years younger cuz you not moving fast enough? FOH

12. "I struggle with age and time passing me by."
In response to Reply # 0

Even though by all accounts I've done a lot in my relatively short life .. I'm well traveled (and still going); I've bought a condo and am working towards buying a house and renting the condo out; I do very well in my career and really like my current job; I married a woman I couldn't picture my life without; I give a lot to charity and volunteer as well as attend various community meetings in my diverse neighborhood ... I don't feel like anything is missing, or that I've sold myself short at all to this point ...

But at the same time, the more I learn/the wiser I become as I get older (I'm 34), the more I get frustrated with how fast time seems to be passing, with how my idols from my youth are getting old and don't even look or sound like themselves as much anymore ... my Dad is aging and I struggle with the thought of losing him and my step-mom (my mom died when I was in high school) ..... I struggle with not having the same ecstatic feeling about new music as often as I did when I was, say, 18-25 ... that type of shit.

All that probably sounds worse than it is. I am not depressed or suicidal at all. I'm in a genuinely great mood like, 85% of the time I'm conscious. Time has just always been a push and pull thing with me emotionally. I'm eager and aggressive about learning and progressing and being a better person everyday, but at the same time I can feel myself feeling so resistant to "change," and mostly with aging, with feeling like I'm not "young" anymore ... with time passing so quickly. 2008 does not feel like it was 10 years ago, in theory, in big picture memory ... but then I think about who I was in 2008 and it's like 10 lifetimes ago. It just fucking weirds me out LOL.

It's hard to explain.

I think it’s the sun or Cali weed or good weather which means you spend more one outside and active.

I mean yea

I'm 39 in a month but dont look much older than 28/30.. Still get carded

I do believe that stress and bad diets cause most fools to look old fast..

LA is also ALL about surface looks... you cant slip out here looking too crazy

None of these folks are aging particularly badly.

What did you expect Chubb Rock to look like at 49?

Irv Gotti has ALWAYS had a bitchface.

Red Alert already looked kinda washed when I first saw him on TV in 1987.

Stretch has a childish looking face, so he will always look younger.

As far as the Beatnuts go? "Beatnuts forever die hard mufucka!!" lol But they don't even look that bad.

When I think of guys deteriorating fast due to hard living, I think of guys like this
