Trying to branch off...
I went into instagram with different goal...now trying to do something different but I got some family & friends that follow and check there for personal updates...don't want to alienate them...but want to be able to do a lil more stuff that I don't have to worry about explaining to certain folks... not no "creepin" shit, so not to get it twisted...

Anyway...what approach do you use outside of having a private account? I don't like the idea of those...

You can store 1Tb of pics for free and you don't have to publicly share everything, you can choose. You get the benefits of sharing real photography, and looking at serious photographers (pro and amateur), but without the distractions of Instagram.

though....
after 5 days I had like 30 follows from Muslim speaking countries for some reason lol... I was getting kinda shook... Then I realized that my government name (which is Arabic) was in my profile, along with the account being linked to my msn mail account that's been chock full of spam for years.... So I blocked all of those folks and switched to a different email account... Hopefully that takes care of that.

Mainly, I post up about my work, hobbies and interests. Most of the older generation (parents, aunts, uncles, etc.) aren't on social media, so they'd never see the photos there. I just email them a pic or two every now and again.

people forget how much fb copied from twitter because its so culturally embedded in their identity now. but they skimasked the timeline/newsfeed, subscribe/follow, verified pages, etc.

all of these moves from fb have stunted user growth on the other platforms. they can survive a good while by just stealing shit.

It's owned by the same kat who owns Facebook, Mark Z., it's cool if you're into doing quick video posts and pics, but other than that instagram is pretty much the same as facebook.

I try to stay away from adding old family but I got quite a few fam I follow on FB but with IG most of them don't use it, so even when I cross post social media they only like & creep on fb instead which I know anyways.

I too been waiting for the next big social media place, remember when friendster was it, then myspace came along, then facebook was it, I don't really do anything on Google's thingie, seems lame, but I did go to tumblr back in 2010, still on it but what I post there is on some other shit and I keep it separate from what I post on fb & IG.
