Seriously, I lived 80 miles from there for more than half my life and I got nothin'. It's known to be the lamest city in Texas, the people are nice though. Probably just hit the Riverwalk and be underwhelmed.

There's not much "must see" in San Antonio.
You may not even want to stop at the Alamo to be honest. It's worth it just to drive by.
If you're into history like that check out one of the missions directly south of the city
Art, I've always loved McNay, it's the first place I saw Georgia Okeefes and they have a solid pop art gallery.
If there's anything you must do in San Antonio it's food and the easiest place for that is Mi Tierra Cafe y Panaderia, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu
Chachos used to have great margaritas but I don't think that's the case anymore
I'm partial to Shipleys donuts. Legit my favorite donut place in all of the country
And that's really it
It's a big ass suburb, with history to the south and mainly lives off festivals and the spurs.

They say Keep San Antonio Lame for a reason.

We got some nice record stores and shit but aside from downtown (Alamo, riverwalk, etc) you aren't missing a whole lot. Even though the Spurs aren't at their best right now a home game would be my only other suggestion

Want good BBQ go to The Big Bib. Stay away from
anything that's a chain when it comes to BBQ and
Mexican food. The best Mexican (Touristy Mexican spot here)
is Mi Tierra. As stated above you can't go wrong with
anything on the menu. I think one of the best tours here
are the bus tours. The tour takes you all over the city
and shows you pretty much all there is to see downtown.
You can get off and explore and catch the next bus.
Not sure how you're getting here or leaving, but if you
need to be back at the airport or anywhere north of SA
I would suggest leaving downtown around 4:00 to be comfortable. Every
highway here becomes a shit show after 4.

There is one that I just thought of that's off the
beaten path that's a little better food wise,
not so much the experience (No Mariachi bands). There's
a place called Pico de Gallo that's within walking distance.
Tourist miss it because they don't go past the market.
If you walk through the market onto the 410 side you
can see it from there. 5 minute walk and the prices
are better.
