"Black Panther is an isolationist, a Wakandan nationalist who puts his people and country first before anything, he has the ultimate border wall (equipped with a hologram dome), he refuses to help the countries around him, and does what he can to stay out of worldly affairs if it doesn't affect Wakanda. He embodies literally everything that the left hates, but they ignore all of that just because he's African. Which is kind of sad funny...
All of these are supposedly "horrible" attributes to have, yet they're in place because he just wants to protect his prospering country..

lol @ 'they ignore all of that just because hes african'. maybe they ignore all of that just because he is fake?
the desperate levels trump supporters go to just to 'prove a point' is pretty funny. if you gotta dig into a fictional universe just to get a counter-argument...

using a fictional character to prosecute your political opponents because of their lack of dogmatic consistency across both reality and fantasy is silly as hell fam.
a lot of conservatives love scarface but embrace a restrictionist immigration policy they think will inhibit the flow of crime and drugs into our country. are they hypocrites? lol.
think about the rabbit hole we are going down lmao.

a white explorer tried to snatch it all up and killed T'Chaka (BP's dad) with some fancy vibranium weapon.
T'Challa (BP) drives the white explorers out with one of them weapons and takes control of the nation's vibranium, which leads to rapid industrialization and scientific discovery.
T'Challa hides this from the rest of the world to protect his country from invasion.

all these dudes rushing to discredit the film and character are the same assholes who hate when a non-white character takes over the mantle of some old white superhero

King T'Chaka's speech to the UN before he's killed:
"When stolen Wakandan vibranium was used to make a terrible weapon, we in Wakanda were forced to question our legacy. Those men and women killed in Nigeria, were part of a goodwill mission from a country too long in the shadows. We will not, however, let misfortune drive us back. We will fight to improve the world we wish to join. I am grateful to the Avengers for supporting this initiative. Wakanda is proud to extend its hand in peace. "

I seem to remember a few shows where you put the weight on it.
**************** TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

>I seem to remember a few shows where you put the weight on >it. Are essentially aiming to be aligned in real time with current society. Some movies even...but when it comes to fantasy??? psshh...nah. I mean I understand that historically comic books DO meld reality and social issues with the fantasy world...but.....man fck it... Y'all ain't about about to be out here disparaging Black Panther!

Or Trump Complaining the trade deficit with Mexico, a country whose economy is almost one tenth the size of the US.
I feel like the Right's latest trend is to try and use progressives arguments against them but what it reveals is that conservatives fundamentally don't understand progressive stances.
Fairness and Equality isn't treating everyone the same.
Fairness is taking into consideration because of circumstances and adjusting appropriately.
Haven't seen the movie to judge where Wakanda's isolationism is a bad thing but Isolationism in itself isn't inherently bad and there could be justifications for it.
BTW, I am not that worked up about fictional Wakanda but I was going to make a post about conservatives not understanding and misusing progressive arguments but this just happened to be an example of it.
