Well one of those guys actually does sell products and doesn't scam people out of money (Tariq). 1 of them has been accused of scamming people on multiple occasions (Polight). One of them doesn't sell anything, just talks hella loud (Seti). And Umar has yet to materialize anything physical from the money he's collected. So I don't understand why Tariq is listed with these guys since what he's doing is legit business just as any other business any of us patronize. If you're seriously criticizing him for "views that can be turned into cash" you're criticizing all commercials, marketing campaigns, stores, ads, ect in existence.

and this is the first time I've seen a post about her on this site from anyone other than myself. That's sad, especially considering that there was just a post about Van Jones interviewing Jay-Z about politics on here. Every week, Yvette shares political analyses and information that is 10x more relevant to our community than anything mentioned there. It's crazy that a Black person can be so informative, yet the only thing folks care about is some "drama"... but the funny thing is that even in that video in the OP where she's addressing Boyce (the one titled "Your Favorite Black Capitalists Are Actually White Capitalists), she's STILL highly informative and teaching some good stuff. She's actually really good at using current issues to lead into more relevant issues. Her voice is a much-needed and important one, and I recommend all Black people (hell aspiring "white allies" too) listen to her every Monday and Wednesday. "The Black Athenians" is good as well. With the way Black politics are discussed on this site, it's very obvious that most of yall would learn a LOT from her. That woman no doubt has one of the most important programs being produced right now.

I'm guessing all the "hotep" stuff being thrown around in here is in reference to Boyce and not Yvette, because I don't get what's "hotep" about Black politics and data concerning the conditions of Black people. But who knows... at this point "hotep" seems to be used to refer to a Black advocate that the accuser either hasn't heard of, doesn't have white backing, or the accuser just disagrees with on something.

With that said, she actually did address the "dating a white woman" accusation, and she said it's not true. Even if it was, her analysis of our situation as Black American descendants of slaves is no less accurate.

According to that, Yvette Carnell doesn't fit the definition of "hotep." She's definitely not afrocentric, as her view is that Black american descendants of slaves are a completely different people from Africans with a different history, American claim, and needs. She's not anti-progress, because her main drive is to get more Black people involved in the political process in a way that uplifts the entire community rather than individual anomalies. Her views are extremely practical.

As for the goal of those defined by Young, it could be any number of things depending on the person. It could be a person asserting some sense of identity where their people's identity is constantly under attack. If the person is shady, it could simply be money via getting over on those they've realized are vulnerable. It could be that the person wants to share what they've learned for whatever reason... maybe for attention, maybe because they care about the fate of Black/black people globally? Could be alotta stuff.

wealth does not equal an education in economics
and an education in economics does not equal wealth

an education in economics means:

- you know where your taxes go and what they pay for

- you understand group economics

- you understand the pitfalls of predatory lending

- it means you understand interest rates


we cannot depend on anyone to take care of our community but us

taking care of our community costs money

an education in economics helps us pay for these things ourselves
everything else will follow

i'd say the asian community appears to be the farthest along in grasping/focusing on economics over anything else

but they are not faced with the same challenges and attacks, which allows them to mostly ignore the political. we never had that luxury

and without a spike in 'wokeness'/cultural consciousness, currently i dont think more than half of us care too much about taking care of the community, if it required some actual 'heavy-lifting'/sacrifice. no matter what rate u are getting at the checkcashing or rent-a-center.
