"I voted for Obama the first time"
this has to be the new "I'm not racist, I dated a Black person before"
anytime someone says that damn lie I can't do anything but laugh.
and most white folk NEVER tell you who they voted for so you know they lying.

It makes me wonder exactly what that person is looking for in their president. They may drop some vague answer about "wanting change," but I want to know exactly what are they looking to change?

I think those folks are lying.
Especially the ones who voted for him the “first time around”
There are a lot of white people in America. Hilldawg definitely pushes some of them away tho. They hate her.

there's a reason obama won like iowa and shit
i think a lot of those people who switched are never gonna get out of the hole their lives are in and so they go with the candidate who's most likely to be different than the previous one.

Obama, Trump, Bernie give them that feeling
Hillary, Romney, Kerry, McCain did not
Many of the Obama to Trump voters are just liars who feel it gives them "you know i'm not racist but.." cover, but I did see a pre-election segment where this union higher up was saying this is the first time he saw so many of his members flip to the republican, and he was finding it impossible to sell them on Hillary.

by the same people they claim are a bunch of sensitive snowflakes.
Progress is also very dangerous when the perception is that it didn't work. For example, Capitalism failing in Russia and Eastern Europe is the best thing that could happen for Authoritarian/Communist regimes. People can be like, "Hey, we tried." and then go back to what they're used to.
Rural whites who voted for Obama and switched to Trump are kind of like the New Year's resolution crowd at the gym. They join, don't see immediate results, and then they now have a scapegoat for their failures, and go back to their old habits, in this case, donuts and white supremacy.
