Haven't attended church consistently in years but technically I'm on the member rolls......

Do you still CTR? Did you convert later in life or are/were your parents Mormon and you were raised in the church?

I converted åfter age of 23. In hindsight that was a terrible decision because everyone gets married from 18-23. No one I am related to joined the church.

Mormons catch a lot of hate in general from Christians/Catholics but they tone it down after realizing Mormons are conservative. It's not one fourth the hate of Muslims if that makes sense.

Church so we had a fairly large Mormon student population. I remember a lot of the Mormon girls all had rings or bracelets with the initials CTR so I finally asked them what that meant and was about, they said it was a Mormon thing and it meant Choose The Right. Maybe that was a local (San Diego/southern California) Mormon thing and not national.

Why did you convert to LDS? Were/was your family religious and if so what religion and denomination were they?

Assuming you’re black, what is it like being black and a LDS member? If I recall, LDS had/have a very rough and rocky relationship with African Americans and they weren’t accepted until the 70s or so. Is that true?

How do Mormons feel about non white LDS members? It seems like Mormans like and do well with the Polynesians but I don’t see very many African/Latin/Asian Americans riding them bikes or knocking on my door.

My grandmother is baptist and when I informed of my decision she told me I joined a cult and hung up the phone on me.

I prayed one night for change, got off work the next day, and was visited by two missionaries. I took it as a sign and joined the church.

It can be absolutely terrible a strong 47% of the time. Average insulted church member grew up in the most privileged of privileged environments and really think they can say anything to you, hold up Christ, claim ignorance, and have nothing happen. I never looked into church history before joining because it's skewed. People can go out of their way to court conflict under the guise of "seeking dialogue" and "telling the truth".

The environment and culture depends on demographics of the city/town where the ward is located in and how entrenched the church is within the community.

Church members are nice to everyone but are scared of encountering weird people that meet all the stereotypes force fed through conservative media. Mormon churches apparently exist in places with black people but I see your perspective as far as where you possibly live.

No, because I had 160 hours a week of commitments on top of uni and legal entanglements/situations.

I'm a pilllar of the community beacon of positivity. I'm too old to be active in the church as everyone past the age of 23 is looked as too old to be single. Random people hitting you up asking why you aren't dating church women even though you're busy.

Maybe somewhere else if there's a liberal open free Mormon. Their standards are high as shit, grew up insulated, and have no concept of life without a safety net of some kind. Usually it's a "date" and disassociate situation on my end. My credit score ain't 900 and fuck having an army of kids.

They moved my records into a married ward without my permission or consent after the toxic atmosphere in the area I attended church in reached a point where membership declined substantially due to situations I advised them to stop kept occurring.

If you were from a hood in a midwest city with nothing but real niggas, people grinding day to day, death, murder, killing, and the whole package, would you believe everything in the church or take some of it as a grain of salt?

I all but told a bishop fuck A - H and if I see any of them in church it's ON SIGHT. No talking, no need for fake shit, the heavens will open up saliva mysteriously disperses, and all hell breaks loose ON SIGHT.
He encouraged me to pray and not attend his particular gathering place and seek a singles ward for people over the age of 25 that doesn't exist anywhere in this region.

I put too much into it to just dip after a few years anyways. I watched it keep people away from jail, drugs, and alcohol. Although this one sister did let a dude hit and have a kid which invited scrutiny in church of course... I saw one time and knew she was out in these street but trying to keep it low so I didn't say anything even though she had a prominent position within the church.

Shots don't effect me because of my post history on OKP and the fact that I wasn't born into the church. Church members don't chastise their friends for overly conservative alt right positions so I don't have to defend the church against anything.

I've worked closely with a Mormon guy for many years. Married super young, has 5 kids. Extremely nice guy and nothing bad to say about him.

But I don't get the whole super strict conservative Mormon, Christian, whatever churches. Believe in what you want, do what makes you happy, do you. But the organized church aspect has always seemed so shady and weird to me.

Don't confuse not spamming the boards with religious talk, not shouting down OKPs just living their lives out of religious obligation, or not posting spiritual quotes as not confirmation of my church membership.

I'm a church member on church attendance hiatus due to circumstances outside of my control. It's their fault for refusing to address the obvious element in the room in regards to the conduct of church members that led to a 1200+ strong ward devolving into less than 100 people in < six years.

One woman attended church and left because "it felt like a meat market".

Another dude went through a "gay problem as the church put it" and couldn't find support needed from everyone. I told him if he really get into some shit come get me and we can go to war if need be. He would later change his name out of disagreement with his family as I was told by a high ranking church official he had a "mental disorder since he struggles with sexuality".

I'm not a spokesman for nobody and shouldn't have to spout religious talking points on here or rep the church but remain a member due.

It just reads like you don’t attend, don’t enjoy and don’t mess with them like that.

I respond to all alt right talking points by demanding answers on how Cliven Bundy and family's beliefs reflect the church. Start tying gospel questions into modern church perspectives reflected in the moment and all of a sudden it gets strangely quiet. Then people want to claim persecution or bullying. HMPH, but antagonize me some more so I can ask uncomfortable questions.
