After this tender moment, a woman shot up from her seat to confront McGowan about comments made on RuPaul’s “What’s the Tee?” podcast in July 2017, which recently resurfaced on social media. The mood took a sharp turn.

“I have a suggestion. Talk about what you said on RuPaul. Trans women are dying and you said that we, as trans women, are not like regular women. We get raped more often. We go through domestic violence more often. There was a trans woman killed here a few blocks . I have been followed home –.” The woman was then interrupted by Rose.

“Hold on. So am I. We are the same. My point was, we are the same. There’s an entire show called ID channel, a network, dedicated to women getting abused, murdered, sexualized, violated, and you’re a part of that, too, sister. It’s the same,” McGowan retorted.

“You do nothing for them. Trans women are in men’s prisons. And what have you done for them?” she asked.

“What have you done for women?” McGowan said.

It then turned into a shouting match, with McGowan demanding the interrupter sit down as her voice broke. She proceeded to yell at the woman as she was carted off by Barnes & Noble security, chanting “white cis feminism.” McGowan, as the woman was carted off, launched into a passionate tirade, shouting into the microphone:

“Don’t label me, sister. Don’t put your labels on me. Don’t you f—ing do that. Do not put your labels on me. I don’t come from your planet. Leave me alone. I do not subscribe to your rules. I do not subscribe to your language. You will not put labels on me or anybody. Step the f— back. What I do for the f—ing world and you should be f—ing grateful. Shut the f— up. Get off my back. What have you done? I know what I’ve done, God dammit.”

The crowd didn’t quite know what to do and began to console the actress and activist with outbursts of “We love you, Rose” and cheering.

“I’m not crying I’m f—ing mad with the lies. I’m mad that you put s— on me because I have a f—ing vagina and I’m white or I’m black or I’m yellow or I’m purple. F— off. All of us want to say it. I just do.”

“And you can label this thing as a breakdown. That, motherf—ers, is a breakdown. Maybe not for me, but for you. I might have information you want. I might know s— that you don’t. So f—ing shut up. Please systemically. For once. In the world. You know what I’m talking about. Just tell the God damned truth. Stop boxing everybody into s—. I didn’t agree to your cis f—ing world. Ok? F— off.”


I don’t know the whole story about this woman but I’m not sure if she is stable. Someone else may have more info on her but I think this could end bad for her. Kinda feels like folks might be exploiting her for personal gain.

And I know it's wrong to be dismissive of a woman by labeling them crazy, but read her bio and the shit she's been through, its hard to imagine anyone going through it coming out the other side "normal".

She seems like the type of person a revolution needs to throw bombs and tear shit up, but not the type of person to lead a revolution to the next phase and create a new order.

The idea of her Reality Show sounds like a disaster.

I openly worry about her well-being and how her existence in the #metoo could be forreal doing damage to progress because of how simple the average person is.

She is a part of a movement and I can't even begin to answer a simple question: what is HER best-case scenario for how this movement and her part in it will go? Is it possible that there's NOTHING that could come from this that would 'work' for her because the damage she's incurred is so far beyond done?

You know...like if someone kills your sig other and you go through a big ordeal to find and kill them. You succeed at killing that person. No jail or prosecution somehow. Then what? All good? Still mad? Still not made whole because of the losses that can't be recovered? What do you do?

What would Rose do even if everyone says 'hey, we're all ears. Point em out and we'll erase their careers..no questions asked'?

And yes, it is scary how fragile any movement is because folks will ultimately scrutinize any member of the movement who isn't 'perfect'. Rose is the easy one to come at fo sho.

Or maybe I mean white men. I remember one of the quotes about Hillary Clinton that stuck out to me was an analyst saying that Hillary Clinton reminded men of their ex-wife. You see how Donald Trump seems to lose all interest in a woman when she becomes older.

Anyway, I thought of this as I watched the Colbert Interview of RM and then watched the older clip of the Rosanne interview with her and you can see many of her mannerisms are the same but on the young pretty RM her behavior is seen as quirky and cute and the same behavior in an older woman comes off as unstable.

Then you also notice the difference between her dress as a young woman and her appearance now and you can see the difference between a young person who knows she is a desirable object to the male gaze and a woman who no longer is or no longer wants to be.

Then it made me think about how young white women can be allies to White Male Patriarchy because they can benefit from it but then as they age out of the benefits of WMP then they see how fcuked up the system is.

I don't think black people or other cultures discard their older women the way white people do because, at least black people, love them some mama and grandma. The woman in our household has a place that white males usually reserve for themselves in their family.

I remember her talking shit at the Golden globes about how they were fakes and liars (the women in attendance) and it struck me as wrong because:

1)They were trying to draw attention to the issue. If we gonna purity test everyone who fucked up in the past ain't gonna be that many soldiers' left.

2)Besides the many POC nominees many of the women intentionally brought female POC activists to the show as their dates.

The movement is bigger then her, so ultimately the critiques *shrug*. But yeah, she's becoming a great example of how intersectionality doesn't always work. Emma Watson (Harmoine from da Harry Potters) kinda wrote an op ed that perfectly illustrates those blind spots and how all types of activists gotta work on intersectionality.
