and it hit me, the only thing Kanye represents now is wealth.
Not, "we made it!" wealth Not, "I'm not supposed fucking to be here" wealth Not, "fuck you, I'm going to be me" wealth Not, "fuck the dominant paradigm, we niggas with money" wealth
The visuals are all pointing to wealth and I don't mean it from the perspective of consumerism by way of flashing possessions and name dropping brands in songs (of which hes done a lot obviously)
Its this LA cool, low key, nothing to worry about vibe.
I'm not mad at it, its just a shift I've started to notice. If you look at his very old interviews or hear the stories about old Kanye you could see where he was going
Its almost as if he was striving to get somewhere and that came out as insecurity but now it seems he hit his mark.

as in, it seems he would rather be old money on the yacht....err, the yacht thing seems more northeast and less so-cal - whatever the socal version of old money is, hes at that

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

not in terms of whether you like his music or not, but just in terms of his own ability to believe in the work he puts out?
if you think back to 2016, I don't think there was ever a time in his career where Kanye made so many lofty promises. TurboGrafx16, the never-ending production of Life of Pablo, the iOS video game, Cruel Winter...yet 2017 was the quietest year for Kanye musically ever. One beat and one feature according to his wiki, so maybe just a few more than that but maybe not...
The positive angle is he took time to be with his wife and kids and work on himself and focus on the fashion angle and find new ways to innovate in hip-hop that aren't going further down the trap or cloud rap spiral. The negative angle is that he unleashed a lot of creative and emotional energy in 2016 and none of it landed the way he'd hoped or in most cases even reached the masses and now he's sort of rudderless for the first time.

They both crave stardom and attention and it works well for them.
I’m not seeing the genius in this campaign or the genius in these clothes.
Shit looks mad basic but dude can sell a $300 white T so... what do I know.
Some of his sneakers are ok but I’m too old to care. If I was in my early 20’s it would be different but I just want a good album.
**************** TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

i have appreciated most of his new music but i think that song captures a lot of what really got me excited about him.
something was definitely lacking in life of pablo. im thinking he's not in his best state of mind right now for creating music but would not be surprised to see him come back with his best work in a couple of years.
