If this is truly the Clotilda, and it does appear that it is, it adds another fascinating chapter to the story of the last slave ship to reach US shores. It also adds another chapter to the family history of Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, whose ancestors were brought to America on the Clotilda, a fact which was highlighted on PBS's Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Just, wow.

Not in huge numbers, but the wars against Jews in Judea and North Africa (where Simon of Cyrene called Niger was from) would have dispersed darker skinned Hebrews into Nigeria and other parts of Western/Central Africa
Arab and European slave trading and the wars between varying African tribes in order to fill the demand for slaves would have decimated that population
So some black folks (perhaps even many) in the Americas could easily have a connection to the still scattered Hebrew people

Locals had reported seeing theses little people for years to the point of it becoming folklore and guess what? They turned out to be real.

We were talking about the possibility that the Black population here could have a genetic connection to the Hebrews who inhabited North Africa and Judea and were forced to flee Roman persecution when it can be proven that there was no shortage of African featured people in that region until about the last Jewish Revolt at Bar Kohkba or later (by my estimation) to which you stated “no” across the board.
