Definitely not amongst my personal favorites, but I feel like he should get WAY more props for how solid his career is and has been. Dude is killing it but its like its all happening a little on the sidelines somehow

I do get a sense of what you mean with the rest of the names you mentioned tho... they seem to either have a bad boy/girl persona or close proximity to such folks. I don't think that's a positive or negative tho, personally... but I take issue with the idea that Black people must either flirt with or embrace dysfunction in order to be acceptable or else be deemed "too clean." Now if you mean taking *musical risks* that's something else, and maybe only one of the names below really qualifies.

several people I know also felt liked "Locked Out of Heaven" had a real coke fueled sex binge undertone to it, and the cover art for the single also had a gorilla fiddling with a jukebox, alluding to "Gorillas".
I don't listen to him much outside when he's on the radio but I remember that lyric pretty vividly, and a little Googling reminded me of those "Heaven" hot takes.

Even with Cardi being the hottest, I had SERIOUS doubts....read my Tweets, especially me and Double 0’s commentary. But I heard it and said oh wow, it fits and it works. The song doesn’t need anything intricate or lyrical, and she does a good job at matching the personality and energy of the track, which is most important.
We are talking about a super fun, upbeat party track. If this was a song from 4:44, of course I would rather hear Rapsody, but Cardi works on this.

I have been calling this album Don't Be Cruel 2016 since it came out. He's not even remotely being sneaky about it if you ask me, so I am not sure how it is gonna go lawsuit-wise.
I'm the right age for this tho so I pretty much love it. It is CRAZY that it is huge, but I'm guessing it is the next step after we went through a long period of Prince and MJ karaoke.

I usually don't comment when that's the case, but I've already commented on the post, so I feel somewhat obligated to make that clear.
Nothing's impressive to me about him dancing on the set of a TV show that was a part of my youth. This reeks of cheap pandering, and I'm not that easy, so to speak... and the song just sounds like something that would've only been mildly successful in the time from which it pulls... nothing spectacular. This is basically a Guy album cut... on the set of In Living Colour. OH THE NOSTALGIAAAAA (gag) *sings "this ain't that good I'm not impressed" in the tune of the chorus while doing the wop*
