The story broke yesterday, and it's about to get interesting. Looks like the mom is a racist, although the sister has old Tweets talking about how she hates Trump supporters. I wonder how this entire thing will play out...I KNEW race would be involved from the jump, though.

trying to find a way to say this delicately/properly but the answer to various societal issues can't be occasionally spotlighting individual cases via social media and flooding them with money. that's just my trash opinion tho.
this might sound heartless, but kids get bullied everyday. so why do we reward a single case with 60k? bc they put it on social media? sh*t is weird to me and it seems to happen a few times a year.

A kid cannot consent to their image being shared millions of times. In 20 years, this kid cannot take this down. He will have to live with this. He has been coaxed and coached.
When I watched, and heard him say people make fun of him because of his nose, I suspected that they were black kids teasing him.
I just don't get what his mom wanted to prove. But she should be exposed.

A whole bunch of us were out as a family and we dared him to do it in the middle of a Starbucks for some money. He pulled it off, started bawling mournfully, and we were laughing while passers-by looked at us like we were the most cold-hearted people ever.
He managed to convince his teachers he had a learning disability when he was younger than 10, when he'd been reading at home well before going starting school. Did it and acted up so the teachers would send him to the library as punishment where he would... read.
That was decades ago, who knows what the youth of today are capable of.

bullying is fucked up and often learned from horrible family situations...witch hunting the kids isn't the best idea.
I think it's fucked up a parent's reaction would be to post a video of their child in pain after bullying...to the world.
it seems a lot of the celebrities and online contingent are reacting so they feel better about themselves. sort of the fucked up, "we hate Nazis too" sentiment that Papa John's evoked earlier this year.

i donated earlier when the link 1st went up. i can overlook his mom being racist if his story is otherwise authentic. i hope this aint no outright scam tho.

None of the reports/rumors were true that Keaton got beat up for calling Black kids the N-Word, and that didn't sound believable to me, anyway.
But IF that were the case, it's where it makes you realize how vicious the cycle is, and it's like...what age do we hold them accountable? If his parents are like this, it's automatically expected for him to follow that lead, even as a three year old who can barely talk. So when Black folks rejoiced after hearing the rumors that he was bullied for being racist, it's like...even if these reports were true, it's still more on the parents for setting him up for failure.
